There should be a small sliding switch on the corner of the memory card. Look for a lock/unlock symbol and move it to unlock. That should take care of it.

If you have a card reader, the easiest way to format the card is to use the card reader to connect the card to a PC. Find the SD card in My Computer and right click on it. Select format. Windows can format it FAT FAT32 ot NTFS. Check with the user manual to find which you require for your device. The camera should also have a format function. If the products are older, they may not be compatable with high capacity cards. Links to the manuals follow:

Have a pny micro sdhc 4 gb disk that is not being read by my comp
From your description, it sounds like the card is faulty, not the computer or the card reader. If you can't get the card to read or write in any device now, then it's probably dead. Is the card reader you're using an SDHC card reader or just a regular SD card reader?
Unable to access files on the flash drive
SDHC cards are not backward compatible with normal SD cards..therefore older devices will not recognise them...your built in card reader is probably not sdhc...try downloading directly from camera or use a sdhc usb card reader
PURCHASE THE PNY 4GB MEMORY CARD
I have the same problem with the card, my cannon camera, and my gateway laptop. From what I've learned in the past ten minutes, the card is SDHC and my devices are not. The card is not able to dumb down and I am returning it to Best Buy. The HC in SDHC is the issue from my best guess. Similar to you cannot play PS3 games on PS2. I hope this helps anyone else.
I bought a PNY 16GB USB Flash Drive to download my music to, but it doesn't DO anything... I am using Windows !0. When I plugged it in nothing happened. Please, I have been trying for hours, HELP!
The flash drive may need to be REFORMATTED. In some cases, the flash drive is pulled out from the USB port incorrectly. That can lead to a damaged Flash Drive.
Always remove Flash Drives by using the EJECT method.
To format the USB Flash drive, go to the File Explorer (the bottom row of Icons on the computer screen showing a manila folder inside a holder) and locate the USB drive by letter, such as drive B,C,D, etc. One of these letters or higher. Tap the corresponding to the USB drive and an option box comes up. Select "Format" (Quick is ok). Once formatted, the drive is ready to accept data once again. If it cannot be formatted, then the USB DRIVE may have sustained damage to the circuit and no longer can be of service.
