I've misplaced my manual. I

Hello,

Carefully follow the instructions below;

1. Open the oven door and remove the oven cooking racks. The oven racks pull straight out of the oven. Empty the oven of all utensils, including broiler pans, and remove contents from the top of the oven. Remove any foil and loose debris from the oven.
2.
Close the oven door and slide the latch handle to the right. Press the "Self Clean" button near the lower center of the control console. If you have a dial knob instead of push pads, turn the temp knob to "Clean."
3.
Press the "+" or "-" buttons on your console keypad to the desired clean time, depending upon the amount of cleaning necessary, and press "Start." The standard time for oven cleaning is usually four hours. If you have the dial knob, the oven automatically cleans for four hours and 20 minutes. There is no time adjustment if you have the dial knob, and the oven begins the cleaning cycle when you turn it to "Clean.
4.
Allow the oven to cool completely after the finishing the cleaning process. If you have the dial knob, turn the dial to "Off" and slide the door latch to the left to open the oven door. Electronic keypad models only require moving the latch to the left. Remove any food remains with a damp cloth and place the oven cleaning racks back into the oven.

Or

1. Close the oven door.
2. Press the "Self Clean" button on the oven's touch pad.
3.

Choose the cleaning time by pushing the up or down arrows. Clean the oven for 3 hours to remove standard spills. Choose a 5-hour cycle for dirtier ovens.
4. Touch "Start" on the touch pad. Leave the oven alone for the cleaning period. You cannot use any part of the range or oven.
5.

Allow the oven to cool. Open the oven door and wipe away the debris with a wet cloth.
6. Clean remaining white spots with a mixture of 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. Spray onto the white spots and wipe away with a cloth.

I hope one or both procedures above is helpful........

Good luck.

Replace heating element in RB790 ge

We had the same problem with ours. This is likely caused by one of two things: The element could be bad, or the element controller could be bad. I hope this helps...

1. Get a screwdriver and multimeter.

2. Slide out the stove and unplug it.

3. Open the oven door and look along the front edge up under the cooking deck. You will see several screws. Remove them.

4. Pry up the top cooking deck, the deck is hinged on the back side of the stove.

5. Lift up the front end of deck and get something to prop it up with.

6. The heating elements are are mounted to sheet metal strips, which are attached to the bottom of the cooking deck with screws.

7. Plug the stove back in and set the bad element to high heat.
NOTE: THE EXPOSED WIRING UNDER THE DECK COULD BE ENERGIZED TO 220V, ENOUGH TO KILL IF TOUCHED! USE EXTREME CAUTION. NO CHILDREN, PETS OR CURIOUS ONLOOKERS NEED TO BE AROUND WHILE DOING THIS. ALSO, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE DOING THIS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

8. Take the multimeter probes and check the voltage going to the element. If the voltage is 220V, then the element is bad. If no voltage or very low voltage, then the controller is bad.

9. Unplug the stove.

10. If the controller is bad, then remove back cover from control panel. Remove controller and replace it.

11. If burner is bad, unplug burner and remove it...you will need to remove sheet metal strip that the burners are mounted on from deck before removing burner from the strip. NOTE: The burners are delicate, be careful.

11.a Mark the metal mounting strip where the burner tabs attach to it with a marker before removing burner because there are several locations on the strip where different burner sizes could be mounted.

12. The replacement burner is expensive. After careful inspection, I found the burner to be bad on ours, and the cause was a broken weld between the burner element foil where it is tack welded to the wire tab at the side of the burner. Looking at the quality of the welds, I would not be surprised if this is a common problem. One could take a piece of steel, say a paper clip or similar, and use a pair of needle nose pliers and fashion a small clip using the needle nose pliers to compress the break in the element foil back together. Otherwise, replace the element. I opted to repair the element and save the money.

13. Reinstall the element and plug the element in. Note, the element can be installed in several locations on the sheet metal mounting strip. Make sure to install back in the original locations that you marked with a marker. Carefully reinstall the mounting strip to the deck. Screw deck back down.

14. Plug stove back in.

15. Cook

I need and Oven Element for Hotpoint Model #

There are two elements in an electric range. One is the BAKE element one is the BROIL element. The part numbers are as follows:

Bake: WB44K10005
Broil: WB44K10002

You can purchase replacement parts at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcapplianceprepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare.

If you need instructions on how to install an element on an electric range, the follow link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575810-replacing_the_bake_or_broil_element_in_a

The element can become mishapened during shipping. You can bend them back in shape, if required, but use care not to crack the element. In addition, it is best to wear gloves when handlig the element surface to minimize oil from your hands from getting on the element surface.

If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
