I have the same problem, when the battery goes dead, it seems to do so instantly vs. just holding the charge for less time. You can replace the battery, but with the prices coming down and the fact that the map upgrades cost what they do, I'm thinking it's more cost effective to just buy a new GPS.

I have the same problem in NL.. TT Home has problems downloading over Wireless connections.
Try connecting the computer to the internet via a cable. You may have to restart TTHome or maybe even your PC. The download should be quicker and more reliable :)

The problem is related to the MTU size and working around that can be very technical.

Answer is fairly simple, How good are you at soldering and removing the covers.
If you answered with anything other then good, send it in to tom tom, find an electronics shop that does work, or if you have a buddy that has a soldering iron with small ends they might get it fixed for you.

You would be able to Charge the Tom Tom via USB Cable but it would take much more time as compared to a Standard Car Charger.

Try holding down the power button until the unit shuts off and resets.

Tap on the screen, go to PREFERENCES -> SAFETY PREFERENCES and choose the warnings you want to enable/disable

A new screen for your GPS sells for $13-$20 on Ebay. If you feel daring enough to do it yourself, it will be cheaper to fix it yourself. Taking the GPS to one of your local electronic shops that can fix it will cost you at least $40.... but you can buy a new "refurbished" TomTom for as little as $60, depending on the model.
It's up to you what you decide to do, but if your GPS is more than a couple of years old, I'd choose to buy a new one and sell the broken one for parts on Ebay. You may get around $20 for it, then you can use that money towards buying a new GPS

TomTom GPS's do not have a utility in the device (or on the TomTom Home computer software) to "calibrate" the touch screen. My guess is that you have a GPS that was repaired by replacing the screen... and whoever did the repair connected the screen connectors upside down... or did not calibrate the screen before selling the GPS.

You can try the RESTE button on the bottom of the GPS, but I don't think it will make any difference.

Yes you can.. Simply hookup usb and then it will connect and download updates. You must first have TomTom Home installed, it is inside the GPS's files, or download it, best idea, to get latest copy, from TomTom

Reset your GPS and problem will be solved . If resetting didn't solve the problem , then i advice you to replace it with a new one if you still have the guarantee .

When stopped go to preferences then Safety Preferences
Turn off "Hide most menu options while driving"
I had this problem.

had the same problem. i use mine all the time. what it was there is a fuse inside the gps. becarefull when u get it open remove the fuse, take it to radio shack and get a new fuse.

My solution after probs with 2 different units: Buy a Tom Tom. I did and it works great.

Maybe you updated to incorrect software. Try and do it again, paying careful attention to model numbers and software versions.
