With this unit being from America its probably LOCKED to Region 1 and this means you can only play discs from USA, Canada the US territories and Bermuda. Any other discs will simply not play.

You need what is known as a Region Hack which can usually be done from the remote control handset. However, there are machines out there which CANNOT be hacked via the remote.

I have found this hack, it may work for your machine or it may not!

Power on
Open disc tray
Press stop
(or there may be a button marked CLEAR)
Press 1 3 6 9 0 (the zero being for multi-region play back)
Close disc tray
Power off

the password is the arrows you have to do forwrd,backward,forward,backward but use the doubke arrow keys. this should work i found the soloution the manual

I"m guessing it's the TV, chances are it would loose sound as well if it was the streaming service. Are your backlights staying on when the screen goes black?
