Mad Dog Multimedia (MD16XDVD9) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner - Page 4 Questions & Answers
I am trying to burn
the cd/dvd burner might not be getting enough power
make sure the leads that are attached to your cd/dvd drive have secure connections and are not bad/faulty or just replace them include electrical extension leads
or you might have bad batch of rewritable cd/dvd's
hope this helps

I put a floppy disk
Have you tried another disc?
If you have a spare disc and after formatting, you fill it with data,
check the output. If it's read, then the problem is with your original disc.

I have a Mad Dog hard drive enclosure that I did
It would cost just as much to purchase a "SERILLEL" adapter as it would cost to purchase another "empty" external hard-drive case that has support for the newer-style 'SATA' hard-drive.
If you have a newer desktop-computer, you probably have an unused SATA port on your motherboard, and an unused SATA power-connector. Temporarily connect the SATA drive to your motherboard, and do the recovery.

Dvdr cannot find dvd disk
tonkatl2 --
If the DVD drive had recognized disks before, but is unable to now, more than likely (95% chance) your optics are dirty... try using a cotton swab with a LIGHT amount of rubbing alcohol, "rolling" GENTLY across the lens while rotating the swab in the opposite direction you are cleaning... should do the trick :) Also, use the other end of the swab to clean around the tray itself (try avoid using an aerosol can/spray, as this will just blow dust into the unit, which just prolongs the inevitable "dust on the lens" issue.
If this doesn't work, please post a comment to this thread, and I will be happy to assist you further!
Hope this helps!

Surepower 430w power supply - fried my motherboard need help
Power supply went bad (6.5v on the 5v rail) and fried my motherboard. I read where Mad Dog, Inc was terrible at returns and replacements and the BBB rated them as one of the worst. I threw up my hands and just ordered a new one from a different Mfg.

DVD burner
Make sure both aren't set as Master, check that you didn't accidently unplug either the power cable or ide cable. If that doesnt do it load into the BIOS and see if its showing up there if not try changing out the cable. But short of a drive failure or port failure it should be one of those.
