Fixing linkage to transmission
If the transmission shifts and I mean NO problems .
You need to look at the allinment of the moving parts every thing has to fit correctly and line up move freely .
You may also have a problem ware some one replaced something like a lock nut or washer's that wore specific to the vehicle now the nut comes lose .Look at all the players bushings mounts angles make sure things are tight but above all look for somethimg that isn't wright that is ware the problem is .

Code P0161, oxygen sensor 2 where is this sensor located?
Oxygen sensors are notated by whether they come after or before the catalytic converter. Follow your emissions line, #1 is before the catalytic converter and #2 is after. There may be a totoal of 4 O2 sensors depending on the specifics of your Cherokee. The engie size (i.e. 4.0 or 4.7) as well as the emissions package make a big difference (Califronia emissions or other).
