This won't work, that is only to play the disc's and tapes. You'll need to go to a company that does that or buy a VHS to DVD converter.

Somewhere on the front there is a small round hole. Straigten a paper clip and push it into the hole. The drawer will release and push out where you can manually retract it fully and remove the disk. Some machines require you to remove the outer case to manually unlock the drawer, if yours is that type unplug it from the electric outlet prior to taking the case off. It is always a good idea to disconnect the power before working on any electronic device.

The problem with unlocking region codes is that you then have to reset it back to be able to watch U.S. disks. Best thing to do is get a region-free blue ray player - search online, there are quite a few.

Depends on where the cord has been cut but it's an AC cord and not particularly sensitive to polarity so just splice in a new cord if there's enough outside the box.
