Could be two things, the first is a bad regulator, easy to replace and not very expensive. The other is a blockage in the burner orifices. For this you have to take the burners out and check inside the burner venturis and then see if you can unscrew the orifices on the valves and clean out any blockage.
The burners sounds like a jet plane.
make sure the burners are clean, each and every little hole must be clean. It sounds as though the flame is burning near the inlet of the burner which can occur if the holes are restricted too much.
Propane Problems
The salesman at ACE Hardware told me I needed a grill tip cleaner. Seems the outflow valve from the tank can get crusted and there is a device called a gril tip cleaner that can help restore the gas flow to a higher level.
How to replace the wheels on our 2004S Ducane gas grill?
Hi,
first check for any screws at the wheels' center that could be loosened to remove the wheels. If not exist, please check if there any hub-cap-like covering on the wheel-centers than can be pulled away to reveal screws. You can also reference the grill's manual.
