Hoover steam vac dual v makes humming noise and nothing else.

Is the overfill valve (the yellow thing) in the waste container stuck in the up/full position? Maybe it just needs to be rinses well to avoid it being stuck and shutting off the vacuum portion of the cleaner.

Replace a turbine and gear assembly on a hoover F5914-900

Nine years later, and this page was a godsend! However, the price of a new turbine simply wasn't cost effective, so I opened up the turbine and found a rusted, seized bearing. Don't let the idea of fixing the turbine scare you... it's not difficult at all if you know how to use a Phillips screwdriver. And if it's not working now, you aren't going to make things worse.A bit of Internet searching will show you how to open the turbine, but even without a set of instructions, don't be afraid to take out those four screws. I was fortunate: I pulled that rusted bearing and went to Akron (Ohio) Bearing and showed them the old one. In 30 seconds the guy behind the counter handed me the identical bearing. I cleaned up all the plastic gears in the turbine, regreased them, and had it back together in no time. You don't live in Akron, Ohio?? - Just look for a bearing business in a city near you.

Hoover twin tank handheld steamer WH20100

Step 1 - How It WorksA garment steamer is a hand held device. Water is placed in the tank and is heated until it becomes steam. The steam is directed at pressure through a nozzle to the garment. The heat relaxes all the fibers in the garment, which eliminates the wrinkles in the clothing.Step 2 - PreparationPut cold water in the water tank of the handheld steamer. Check to ensure all the parts are properly connected. Turn the device on and allow the garment steamer to heat until steam forms.Step 3 - ShirtsPut the shirt on a hanger. You should button the collar and a couple of buttons below it. To make life as easy as possible, hang the shirt from something that will easily let you reach all around it-a shower curtain rail is ideal for this.Steam from the bottom of the shirt, moving upward. Direct the steam at the material and pay particular attention to the collar area. After you've finished, let the shirt hang for a minute before putting it in the closet. This will allow the dampness to air out.Step 4 - Dresses And SkirtsDresses and skirts can be made of many different types of fabric, with different printing, so special care is needed with these. Where the material itself is delicate, such as silk or velvet, make sure that the nozzle of the garment steamer never directly touches the material.Where clothing has been embroidered or screen-printed you should turn the item of clothing inside out and steam that side instead. That way there's no risk of damaging the print or embroidery, and the wrinkles will still disappear. When you've finished, give the clothing a minute for the dampness to fade, turn right side out and hang in the closet.Step 5 - Heavier MaterialWhere you're steaming a heavier material, you might well find that it needs several steamings before all the wrinkles go. As an alternative to this you can also use the garment steamer on the inside and the outside of the piece of clothing.Step 6 - Water LevelCheck the water level in the tank after each item of clothing. This way there will be no danger of the water running low. If you let the water run out you can end up damaging the garment steamer. On the other hand, if you put too much water in the tank, all that will come out will be water, not steam.Step 7 - Other UsesA garment steamer is surprisingly versatile. You can also use it on drapes, upholstery and even wigs. Many people pack travel size garment steamers when they go on trips.

I have a Hoover V Steam Vac model F7412. The tank for the clean water and cleaner fluid leaked out the bottom. I purchased a new tank but something in that area is still leaking. I know it is not t

My clean solution tank is leaking from the bottom, too. It is not a hose or a valve. The clean solution tank is leaking in-between the clear plastic walls of the solution tank & the grey plastic bottom that are connected, together. I was thinking of caulking it all around the bottom where the clear plastic sides join the grey bottom plastic. I can't get into ordering a new one (spending $) unless Hoover will send me a new one for free. Purchased at Kohl's in Massapequa, NY in June 2008. There's a one year warrantee AND the directions say to EMPTY the solution tank after each use. Which I normally do because the tank runs dry. hoover-v-steam-vac-model-f7412-tank-obohnnchzvpzg01f0flbvqud-4-0.jpg

HOW TO mAKE BRUSHES SPIN

Check for broken belts, or belts that have been thrown off the pullys. I use the websites that sell parts to see what is inside stuff, and download the users (owners) manual and read it. Try Sears Parts Direct or the Parts Store (Google those names) for diagrams to see what belts or whatever it uses. If you can't understand the diagrams, find almost any 10-year-old. They seem to be incredibly clever, but then they have nothing else to do except try and figure stuff out.
