The unit keeps freezing up,

HPM2727mfp - Printer Freezes or Randomly Restarts

The popular school of though is that the Formatter (CC370-60001) board causes the printer "to Freeze","Hang"or "Restart". I have repaired many of these printers, for this very problem by replacing this board. It may be possible to "bake" the board in an oven. The solder joints on these boards being the most likely cause. I do not recommend the easy bake oven repair.

It may be possible to have this printer repaired under an HP Extended Warranty Thru Mar 23, 2010

HPM2727mfp - Scanner Error 5 - Scanner Error 8

These errors indicate a problem with the flatbed scanner assembly. The flatbed is no longer able to initialize or find home position. The scanner may move back and forth continually and the light flicker at a high rate of speed. The flatbed scanner will need to be serviced/changed. The part required is CB532-67905

Hi

These printers, along with a few other from the same era had poor solder on the formatter, and also many had scanner issues. HP has extended the warranty to the original owner to March this year.

please try HP Technical support at www.hp.com you will need a case number, and they will refer you to a local service depot for the repair. It should be no cost to you.

When I copy there are black lines across the page.

Lift the copy bed cover and locate the **** glass (it is about 1" wide and sits on the left of the large glass)

Use a microfiber cloth, and a bit of water, and remove the debris from this **** glass. Make sure it is clean, then clean the white bar on the underside of the top cover (It will sit on that **** glass)
take a blank piece of paper and copy it through the feeder, if you have lines on the page that prints, you need to look harder for a spec on that glass. a small dot will create a line on any document fed through the feeder. A dot on the large glass will print only the dot as the paper is not moving over it.

It didnot start ,you hear it warm up but there is

The problem is with the formatter board, it is a cold solder joint/connection. What you need to do is remove said board, unsolder the battery that is on the board...now hold on for this one, you have to put in in your oven @ 380 degrees for about 8 - 10 minutes face down on a cookie sheet on a piece of tin foil. Believe it or not it worked for me and i have also fixed several HP LJ2015's the same way. Good luck
