That's the part number for the "fax card" that plugs into the formatter. Is this a test? Did I pass?

This problem is caused by a faulty formatter. This issue is a documented problem by HP and they do offer a free repair for the unit regardless of age. Either contact HP directly at 1-800-HPINVENT or contact an authorized HP service partner. I have a complete tip written about this error as well that you can read.

You can't physically change the printer's page count; it's stored in the non-volatile memory or read-only memory. Did you mean check the page count? You can check the page count by printing out a configuration page:

- Press Setup.
- Scroll to Reports.
- Press OK.
- Scroll to Config Report.
- Press OK.

While your printer is off. Hold the > & Cancel buttons together, then switch on the the printer while holding these buttons. When you receive a message that says "Permanent Storage Init" release the buttons and let the printer do its thing.

79 error can be a memory error or a firmware problem. Turn off power for 30 seconds. Power on, If error returns...make sure that printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet. Don't use a surge protector. If you just added memory to the printer, power off and reseat the DIMM. If the error persists go to HP.com

Call HP 1-800-invent, this printer is under an extended warranty by HP. The scanner and formatter must be replaced at the same time.

Procedure Cold Reset

1. Turn off the product.
2. Simultaneously press and hold the Cancel button and the right arrow button (> ), and then turn on
the product.
3. Wait until the message Permanent storage init. appears, and then release the Cancel and right
arrow buttons.
When the NVRAM initialization process has been completed, the device control panel shows the
Ready message.
Let me know if this works. it should bring the printer back to factory settings.

Be sure the tray is lifting when inserting it. Also if it says this after it attempts to feed then try cleaning the feed rollers. Also be sure that the sensor flag is not broken.

This is very easy setup to install the network printer. first to set the your desire network IP address in your printer.follow the mention option enter the Ip address.

1. Press the Menu button.
2. Press the Down Arrow to find Configure Device .
3. Choose Configure Device .
4. Press the check mark button.
5. Choose I/O .
6. Press the check mark button.
7. Press the EIO (1 or 2) Jetdirect Menu .
8. Press the check mark button.
9. Choose TCP/IP .
10. Press the check mark button.
11. Choose Configuration Method .
12. Press the check mark button.
13. Choose Manual .
14. Press the check mark button.
15. Select Manual Settings .
16. Choose IP address .
17. Press the check mark button.
18. Enter IP address with keypad.
19. Press the check mark button.
20. Choose Subnet Mask .
21. Press the check mark button.
22. Enter Subnet Mask with keypad.

After assign the IP addres in printer. connect to your printer with router or switch. and insert you HP Installation CD in Rom,

Go to the Control Panel and select Printer and Faxes click the "Add Printer"the new Add printer wizard open click next and remove the check mark in " Automatic detect and install the Plug and Play printer" click next, then you get "Select the printer port screen" Click create New port and choose Standard TCP/IP and click next.


You will get another New windows " Standard TCP/IP Add Printer Port" click next and put the Printer IP Address click next and next, Finish.

Now the windows will appear " Add Printer Wizard" click the Have Disk " and choose the .Inf file for your Installation CD, and Click Finish.

Your printer will install and the test will come.

it may be a fuser issue-- you need to replace the fuser ..also go to this link and read the issues and solution for thsi MFP printer-- it could also be a universal print driver issue.

You will need to get a maintenance kit for it.
It will have rollers and pick ups in it that need to be changed.

If that does not work the duplexer will need replaced.

There is no resettable page count on this printer. If you are referring to the counter for the toner level, that is reset by a chip on the cartridge. That chip only works once and if you are using a refilled cartrige that chip should have been replaced. If you refilled it yourself you will need to check on Ebay to find a replacement chip. If you bought a refilled from someone else, take it back and get them to change it. If you bought an OEM HP cartridge and it does not reset the count then call HP as the guarantee their cartridges.
