"Share and print from your networked computers using the built-in wireless and Ethernet connectivity." I have recently purchase the HP C7280 printer and I am trying to print from my HP laptop that is running Vista. I am having some trouble setting this up. I have searched for the device w/my laptop and it has not found the printer. A brief walk through would be great. Just the basics to rule out any steps I may have miss. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.

did you install the green installation software cd that comes with the printer? say you did not, start by inserting your cd in your laptop, turn your printer on, but dont connect till asked, then we go again to your printer connect it to your router. The HP All-in-One may not be connected to your network. For a wireless connection, make sure you have
run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the control panel before continuing with the software installation. For a wired Ethernet connection, check all cable connections between the HP All-in-One, the router, and your PC.Try temporarily disabling any firewall, anti-spyware, or anti-virus software you may be currently running on your PC
Problem: After you run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the HP All-in-One control panel, the HP All-in-One cannot connect to the network.
You can print a diagnostic report that may help identify the problem. Run the Wireless Network Test from the HP All-in-One control panel Network Menu. If you entered your network name (SSID) manually using the Wireless setup Wizard , you may have not typed the name correctly. Run the Wireless Setup Wizard again, and make sure you type the network name correctly. If you are using the default network name (SSID) provided by your wireless router manufacturer, your HP All-in-One may be trying to connect to another wireless router in your neighborhood that uses the
same network name. Make sure your network name is unique.
The signal between your HP All-in-One and your wireless router may be weak. Try moving the
HP All-in-One closer to your wireless router and avoid obstructions such as walls or large metal cabinets. There may be inference from other devices preventing the HP All-in-One from connecting. Any wireless device that uses 2.4GHZ can cause interference (including microwaves). Make sure these devices are not in use during the HP All-in-One installation.
Your wireless router may need to be reset. Turn off your wireless router for 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Then run the Wireless Setup Wizard on your HP All-in-One.

Hi, I get as far as the HP Photosmart C7280 ALL-IN-ONE recognizing my router, then the machine asks me for a WEP KEY and I am sent to a keypad page, I have no Idea what it is asking for and have tried many different combinations of possibie keys, don't know what it is, so can't continue my setting up my laptop to the PHOTOSMART!!!
This is really NOT funny, Why can't this be more user friendly, so I can put the thing to the use it was intended?
Please tell me WHAT IS A WEP KEY??? HOW do I find a WEP KEY?? HELP ME SET THIS THING UP SO MY HUSBAND IS A HAPPY CAMPER, PLEASE???!!!

The WEP or WPA is the password to get onto the network. Think of the router as the doorman. The printer needs to get into the club so it needs the password otherwise it can't get access.
The WEP key and WPA passphrase are obtained from the wireless router or access point using the embedded web server on the router. See the documentation provided with your router to see how to access this information. Some routers provide more than one WEP key. Use the first WEP key if this is the case.

HP C7280 ink system failure error: 0xc18a0101
Posted by kdg11230 on
just had this exact issue with my C7280. I called HP Tech support, got a body in Bangalore or someplace, and was pleasantly surprised that they were prompt and knowledgeable, and solved the issue very quickly after transferring my call one time to a hardware support expert.
Here are the details. Got the Ink System Failure message. The error code shows was '0xc18a0005'. The tech had me press and hold the '*' key on the key pad, then press the '#' key and release them both. Then he had me enter '123' to enter maintenance mode. He then had me press the right arrow (beside the OK button) until System Config. menu appeared on panel. Then pressed OK two times to clear the error condition, then cancel two or three times to return to the top menu. Then powered off and back on, printed a test page just fine, copied a document fine.
I hope this help those who have similar issues

HP C7280 printer: "Pump motor stalled" error displayed. Unit won't print
Posted by joscoley70 on
This means there's a failure in your printer's pump motor.
If you are still under warranty, contact HP's Customer Service here : http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html
If not, you can try your local computer store for a check-up but they'll probably suggest a new printer.
Hope this helped.

I can't get my printer to print envelopes - size 9 5/8" x 5 7/8" (24.4 cm x 14.9 cm). How do I do this?
Posted by mrdred on
This is a paper size problem with the software, go to page setup and under "Paper Size" choose "User Defined" or "Custom" and fill in all of the dimensional information about the envelope and save with a name you will recognize. Now, when you print make sure you have selected the envelope from the paper list and you should be good to go. If you need further assistance, click "Ask Me" and I will answer your request as soon as I can.

Remove it from the surge protector and plug it directly into the wall. This may prevent a problem that when the printer goes into standby, the surge protector stops it from returning to full power.
