The slides you are moving are for the drum units, you could try using canned air to blow in the same area that the sliders slide across, if that doesn't help you may need a new drum unit..

If no paper or label has been found after thoroughly following the troubleshooting steps, it is most likely a mechanical problem. In my case, it was the solonoid. I phoned Brother customer support and they referred me to my local authorized Brother repair shop who replaced the solonoid in less than 24 hours for $98.

Hi Camru,Can you tell me the exact model of Cyan toner you are using as there are two for this model a high and a low capacity one, and I also would like to know if you are using original brother branded toners or refill or aftermarket/non brother/"for use in toners". If you are using after market toners then the toner itself is probally faulty, these machines dont just sence new powder they look for a new chip to tell machine it has had its toner replaced, then the chip is blown so it cant reset the machine again, refillers have to put in a new chiop and powder if the chip they use fails then it doesn'r reset the machine, exactly like your problem.If your are using brother branded original not refilled toners then we could have other issues so please then try the following. Please ensure the contacts on the drum and coresponding ones on the front door are clean. Gently tiny wipe metal wire contacts with a lint free cloth or a cotton bud with metho/alcohol, dont bend them they are delicate, see pic at end for locationPlease also try to reset the toner manually, do this by openning front door and pressing clear/back button, a menu will appear, we want to select C-TNR-S or C-TNR-H depending on if you are using Cyan/TonerStandard or Cyan/Toner/High Capacity, so use arrows to go to correct one then press ok to select it, then a new menu appears, we want to select 1 asnd ok to reset, then it should just go back to cover open.Also you could let me know what code comes up if you press menu * 2 8 6 and 4 real quick!!, if you do fast enough its tricky but then you should see maintence in display and it will beep, then select 82, and it will show eroor ?? let me know the code...also try to do a 80 it will print out a code sheet that I would normally read to identify problem, and finally in maintence mode select 99 to perform reset, you machine should go back to normal and out of service mode.Hope this helps, or if required give me more detailed info and we will dig deeper.CheersSoulvisitorContact locationsn

maybe some one by accident have set the printer to print in greyscale (without colour).

first check all cables if they are all connected reinstall software see if this works

Most probably either someone requested manual feed, or someone tried to print a document, which has a different page size that usual (or perhaps envelopes or something), so it is asking for this special-size media to be fed into the manual/multipurpose tray.

Just put some paper in the MPT and investigate whose documents require this special atention, and perhaps find out why is this person sending non-standard print jobs.

Make sure the box is in the unit correctly and is completely seated in its holder. Either one of these could result in the unit not recognizing that you have replaced the bottle.

From there, choose Drivers and the next page will prompt you to choose Drivers under Step 1 and your current OS (XP, Vista, Mac etc.) under Step 2.
Step 3 is for Language.

On the following page you should choose "Full Driver & Software Package" which will download a file you can run to install the printer

I don't see Windows 7 listed - so those drivers may not be available.

Try this:
2.3 Drum Unit Cleaning Mode
This mode is to remove the dust attached on the exposure drum.
When white spots appear on the printout, perform this operation to
remove the dust by using the drum cleaning sheet.

<Operating Procedure>

(1) Load the drum cleaning sheet into the MP tray.
(2) Check that the status LED lights in green and press the and
Clear/Back buttons at the same time. “DRUM CLEANING” will
appear on the LCD.
(3) Press the Black Start button. The machine starts cleaning the drum
unit. “DRUM CLEANING / PLEASE WAIT” appears on the LCD
during cleaning.
(4) When finishing cleaning normally, “DRUM CLEANING / COMPLETE”
appears on the LCD.
(5) Press the Stop/Exit button so that the machine returns to the ready
state.

You can try applying belt dressing to the rubber wheels that pick up the paper. It comes from an auto parts store, and is made to apply to the fan and generator belts of automobiles, to stop them from slipping. You may have to reapply it every few months.

Take a tissue and clean the area where the toner is. Do not use anything wet at all. Just a soft tissue. Re-install toner and try again to print. If the problem continues, it may be a leaking toner catridge. The cartridge has a cleaning blade built in and it may be deffective. Try a new toner cartridge if so.

Remove the jammed paper. • Check that the paper is set in the paper tray correctly. • Check that there is not too much paper set in the paper tray. • Check that the thickness of the paper is within the standard. • Check that the size of the paper is within the standard. • Flip through the paper and reset it in the paper tray.

Remove and clean the pads in the waste ink chamber inside the machine. Then perform the purge reset.
