Canon PIXMA MP610 InkJet Printer - Page 6 Questions & Answers
The I J preview is poor quality not the same as photo
Why are the areas that should be black on a photo coming out dark red. All the cartridges are working properly as I have printed a test page and recently removed the head for cleaning.

Ink cartridge running low will it default small cartridge
It won't default to the small one...I emailed Canon support; this is the response I got.
The reason for the two different black ink tanks is for the different types of printing your unit is capable of. They are not intended as backups to each other. The larger black tank is pigment based, and is primarily used for standard black text printing or output. The smaller black ink tank is dye based like the color inks, and is used for photo and graphics output. They are designed to complement each other, allowing the printer to produce the best possible black text output or photo quality as appropriate.
CANON PRINTER MP610 ERROR
That's a purge drive error, indicates you need a new purge assembly, the part that cleans and prime the printhead, on the right side. It could also have a paper scrap or something blocking it's operation.
I love this printer and
Hi! I have this problem before with my epson printer, the ink head is built in to the shaft, not like the hp ink cartriges the ink head is embeded to the cartridge. What I did is I remove the ink head from the shaft, that is removable, cleaning process that I did is, I deep clean it with boiled water for 5 minutes and use a rubber suction to remove the ink that is stuck in the head. then deep again with boiled water, **** it out the ink inside the head until nothing is going out from the head. check also the flexible cable if there is a damage and you can replace this as well.. you need a clean tissue and fold it into four to clean the ink head this will show you that there is an ink coming out from the head.. please feel free to get in touch if you have any query..

MP610 does not recognize ink tank.
Every now and then we get a defective cartridge, and Canon will replace it. If it's generic or refilled, you just need a new one. It's a cartridge problem, not a printer problem
Error, paper output slot
That means the sensor flag under the platen roller is broken, bent, or jammed in the up position. Hard to see and must be taken apart to repair.
Printer does not recognize a cartridge
OK, delete all other printers that you might have on you printer/fax/camera programs. Turn it off and let it rest for a couple of minutes, then turn everything back on....computer, monitor, printer...etc.
Look at the bottom, of course you know this, and see the "new hardware message...if it isn't there, I have failed you. Good luck.
