AT&T 8525 Smartphone - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I had a similar problem, 80% battery phone randomly shut itself off and would not start again. no lights if I plugged in charger or anything to indicate phone was getting juice. Found a diagram of the motherboard, located the fuse and operated on my phone. If I touched the 2 ends of the fuse with tweezers and plug in cord, got the red light with no battery. This indicated fuse bad. put a little trail of sodder to connect the 2 ends of fuse and put battery in and presto, I now have working phone with no power fuse. Could burn up some day but was going to be trashed anyway as out of warranty.

Num lock is on in your keyboard, just turn off the Num Lock by pressing the NumLock key on your keyboard

I have a small solution to what all of you are having with the black screen. I had the same problem so, what you want to do is keep pressing the power button. You do not turn the phone off, you will just put it in standby mode and then back on. If you keep doing that the screen will turn back on but you can not let the back light go out.

Get your Smartphone 8525 repaired by a repair service. Replacing the LCD screen or getting it repaired will fix the problem. Two online cellphone repair services that can replace the LCD screen are DrCellPhone and CellularDR. Go to an online repair service website, purchase a repair service and mail your cellphone to the address that they provide. They will repair it and return it to you.

You need to perform a hard reset.

This will erase your 3rd party programs, notes, etc..

Press both soft keys (top buttons on top of the 8525) and press the reset button (which is recessed in a hole on the back).

The 8525 is a Microsoft Windows based device, I've found Contacts getting loaded onto my phone through the following conduits:

1. by entering them manually
2. ActiveSync with MS Outlook
3. download with Windows Live/Hotmail Live contacts if you've set it up as an email account on your phone.
4. I think my old Hotmail contacts were uploaded into Hotmail Live and back down with my Windows Live account onto my phone, and now the same with Windows Live Mail (Hotmail replacement).

There may be other software solutions and fee based 3rd-party services on the web that will import contacts from web based email, just search for "import contacts into WM6".
Depending on your computer skills, there are sites that give instructions on import/export and file manipulation in order to get contacts onto your phone.
For security reasons, I wouldn't recommend any software/service that wants you to upload contacts to their site.

Sounds like a software glitch. Back up ur contacts( assuming you still have contacts) with outlook using active sync. Perform a hard reset on ur phone that should fix the problem. Which version of windows mobile are you running? If its 5.0 then upgrade to 6.0

Who's your carrier?

You can call 611 from ur phone for free and ask them what is the voicemail access number for your area code. You can also google the voicemail number it probably got accidently deleted and now u push and hold down #1 and nothin happens I am assuming.

yes, you have to open it up. most likey there is a small cable that leads to the main speaker the got unplugged. this happend to one of my frens. puluged the cable back in works great

mine does the same thing. i replaced the battery, but no help. sometimes it works, sometimes not. no help from at&t
