Kinderkraft crib model 710

On the bottom of the front rail that drops (the drop rail), there are two plastic tension pieces (one at either end) that engage the two fixed, bottom rail slider hardware (the long, narrow pieces screwed top-and-bottom into the lower, inside portion of the tall, upright crib ends). These tension pieces are spring loaded, and the outer edge of each one rides along the outside (i.e., the parent's side) of the two bottom metal rail guides. Their purpose is to supply outward pressure against the lower part of the drop rail - that's what you push against when you press your lower leg upon the bottom of the drop side of the crib to lower it. They insure that when up, the drop side locks safely into place. I suspect these tension pieces are your problem. It sounds like they are improperly installed. Good luck.

had the same problem. Their site seems to be hijacked by someone else. But you can use this site: http://www.archive.org/web/web.php which keeps a copy of old pages on the internet. For me, clicking on the January 2006 link on this page: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://kinderkraft.com worked. Good luck!

Where would i buy an allen wrench??

Any hardware store. Allen wrenches are usually sold as sets, this way you'll have many different sizes, and one of them will surely be the one you need (just have to know whether metric or standard, or buy both sets).

Hardware

I went to the Products America website. They were very professional and knew exactly what I was talking about (even if I wasn't sure what to call things.) Someone else recommended this in another problem--it's worth your time.

I have a 1998 MODEL NO.305AIP LOT NO.71/98 KINDERKRAFT

Congratulations on your new grandbaby!

I have the 1999 version of KinderKraft's Crib 'N Toddler Dreamer No. 305. (model # 305NAT) I don't know how similar these are to each other, but I have used mine over two years for my son and have not had any problems. I recently converted it to the toddler daybed and I am very happy with it.

The slats on mine are 1 1/2 inches wide and the gaps between them are 2 inches wide. The standard for checking gaps is a soda can. If a standard size soda can fits between the slats of a crib, it is not safe. I don't know about any of the other features of your particular crib, but I hope this helps.

Kindercraft Convertible

If it is like my KinderKraft crib and you want to make it into a day bed, here is how to do it:

Where the bottom of the sliding rail rests at each end, there are small rubber bumpers that stop the rail from going down too far. With the rail in the up position, unscrew the rubber bumpers (remove completely), then drop the rail as usual except it will continue going down. Let it go down until it comes off the guides and you are done! I replaced the rubber bumpers on mine so I don't lose them, though. I actually just did this two night ago! :) Good luck!

P.S.

Your matress needs to be in the lowest postion in order to safely use this crib as a toddler bed!
My email is [email protected]. If I can help you any more with this, feel free to contact me. If your crib is very similar to mine, I can email you a copy of the manual.

Model 680

you can use wood to carve one, it is not too hard especially if you have the right tools. I was also looking for the same parts, and the sliding rail. I did not find it and had to make one with a piece of wood.
