Need new screws
Just a suggestion, the way I'd do it is to get a screw that isn't missing, go to either Lowes or Home Depot and see if they can get you a screw that is the closest match.
If you have no screws, measure the hole for the screw in the crib. Take a pencil, skewer, or anything thin and mark the depth of the hole to determine how long of a screw you need; and also the width of the hole itself. Again, at either store, find the screw that best fits. Since it is a crib and you do want it to be sturdy, go for a thick screw. It's ok if its just a tiny bit wider because then it will grip better. Be careful not to get it too big as it could crack the wood.

I am not sure where you got the information regarding a recall on the Kinderkraft crib but to our knowledge there have not been any recalls, past or present, on any of the Kinderkraft cribs. The recent recalls have all involved the plastic hand release trigger hardware and that is not what Kinderkraft was using. You can go on to the Consumer Product Safety Commisions website at
www.cpsc.gov for a full listing of all crib recalls to be sure.

Sounds like you may either be missing a piece of the moving side hardware, or have an item installed backwards (the moving side components are left and right orientation).
