To fix this try the following using an account with administrator privileges and internet access:

1. Open Device Manager (While holding the windows key, press the Pause / Break key. This will open up the System Properties box. Select the Hardware tab and click Device Manager)
2. Find and expand the Portable Devices folder (a problem icon should appear beside the WALKMAN NWZ-A815 device)
3. Right-click WALKMAN NWZ-A815
4. Click Update Driver...
5. Select Yes, this time only
6. Click Next
7. Select Install the software automatically
8. Click Next
9. Click Finish

Open Windows Media Player 11, connect your sony nwz-a815 and wait for it to appear then try to sync some files.

try to download the klite mega codec to become playable on any media player.

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Cars and Trucks. Remove the batteries to reset it and also stop it..

The motor might be broken and is not working and will have to be replaced in your walkman.

Try removing any covers that you can without breaking anything, then fill a container with uncooked rice and push the player into the rice and cover the container. Leave it like this for a week or so.

@Gikanne: it's not working..

Either the left headphone is shot or the headphone jack is messed up. Try a different set of head phones if its same result see about replacing the jack.

The battery does not hold charge. It is weak. Replace it with same type number. Brand name of the battery isn't a matter, check its type number printed on it. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
