Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the Samsung's website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.

Try to update the driver of the player.

Go to the START menu.
Click on RUN. type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
Make sure you have the player plugged in and the installer CD should be on your CD drive.
Now look for the category PORTABLE DEVICES or OTHER DEVICES.
the YP-K3 should be listed there with a yellow question mark.
Right click on it and select update driver. Follow the prompts to update.
The player should be recognized after that.

Hope this helps!

The Samsung YP-K3J is not compatible with Macintosh computers. Sorry!

We had that issue also. But pushing the reset button on the back corrected it. It is a very small hole in the back of the mp3 player near the headset port.

try a spyware removal program. they are available for free at luck, John

the people that say to ignore the safely remove device - are mistaken.

all i can suggest is go to the manufacture of the computer and make sure all your device drivers are up to date.

and depending on your OS - windows update site or the linux / mac / other repositories to make sure all those are updated as well.

have you gone to the laptop manufactures web site to see if there is is updated drivers for the usb ... also - when was the last time you visited the windows update site (if you have windows) or the update site of the MAC and or Linux os update repositories.

have you tried other peripherals in the usb ports ( to see if they in fact work)

just some ideas.

well - strange as it may seem - it wasnt as dead as it appeared to be... having the prior evening plugged it into another machine to see if it was in fact a usb port issue... it appeared to be the brick i thought it was. (non-functional).

scanning through all the messages from others i came upon one that said to hold some button for 5 to 50 seconds while pluggging it in... now as i said, i did try numerous other things prior ... but for some reason other than ( cursing / swearing / threatning the bricks existence on this plane ) it now works. all i can say is thanks to those several others who complained about the same thing.

note: still does not explain WHY it did what it did. and there is NOTHING!! at all on the manufactures web site. just one more reason to perhaps do a lot more research before you purchase their product(s).
