water standing up in bottom of dishwasher after cleaning not draining
I had water at the bottom of my 4 year old plus dishwasher and of course I thought the worst. Did the pump go out, bad impeller, or what else could it be! I started with the easy stuff first and disconnected the drain lines. The drain line runs from the dishwasher to an air gap mounted to my sink, which keeps the drain line from getting an airlock. From the air gap device another larger line runs to the garbage disposal. I used an 8MM wrench to loosen the clamps enough to pull the drain lines off and drained them into a bucket. There really wasn't any resistance to water flow and no real chunks, I was disappointed.
I then took the actual air gap out of the sink by removing a large plastic nut and pulling the devise out from underneath the sink. When I inspected the air gap I saw a wad of hairy, feathery plastic stuff blocking the flow of water. I took the chunk out, reassembled everything and it works like new again.
It is a very easy fix and now even the area under the sink is clean to boot.

I have a brand new dishwasher, Frigidaire, and it is not draining completely.
But, I had the same problem with my Sears Kenmore which the Frigidaire
replaced.
I was having the same problem with water sitting at the bottom of my dish washer. I had recently installed a new garbage disposal when the problem started. You need to make sure that you knock out the inlet valve where the disposal drain line hooks up. If you have never hooked up a washer to your disposal, this piece will be in place. Stick a flat head screwdriver in where the drain hooks up and hit it with a hammer and the small plastic circle will pop out. The washer does not use any water when that is blocked and therefore will leave the old water to turn rancid...I hope this helps!

My dishwasher won't start the light is on and the setting is correct it just flashing
It's the switch in the handle. I just took the black panel off and disconnected the wires to the switch and reconnected them and it is fine for today.

The upper arm of my Frigidaire Professional Series dishwasher came off. I don't know how. The are doesn't look like anything is cracked or broken. When I try to push it back in place, the receiving swivel recedes into the dishwasher roof. Any idea how to put the arm back on? I appreciate the help.
I realize this problem was in March of 2008 but if in the case someone else needs the solution. The Frigidaire website doesn't list this in there troubleshooting list either.
I had the same problem and let the upper spray arm off for a couple of months. My glasses were not getting cleaned as well so I was rewashing everything by hand. What's the point of that if I have a dishwasher.
On the inner roof of the dishwasher there is a round piece that you hook the upper spray arm to. Well it's a pain to try to just snap it on. Unscrew it by hand, get the little white plastic piece so the teeth are pointing out of the hole and snap on it on that way. One tooth at a time and it should go back on. It will be wobbly. Works like new I am so happy !
From now on be careful what you place on the top rack, if the item is too big it will cause it to snap off again. I know I will :)
Thank god I didn't get a repair man in here for something as minimal as that.

How do you knock out the plug in garbage disposal so water can drain out dishwasher? It feels like plug is still in garbage disposal.
Turn off the power source to the garbage disposal. Take the drain hose from the dishwasher off the connector going to the disposal (if connected). Insert a flat blade screwdriver in the drain hose fitting and tap a few times with a hammer. The plastic plug will pop off inside the garbage disposal. Reach inside from the top of the disposal to retrieve the plastic plug. Sometimes you have to use a little force to tap the plug out. Hope this helps you.

We have a KitchenAid dishwaser Model # KUDI02CRWH0 it filled up with water and flooded the floor when we were away on holidays. We ran a cycle through it and it seems to work but by morning it has water in it and is leaking again. What do I need to look at or fix to get this unit fixed with out calling in a repair man? I filled the sink with water and then opened the drain. The water did not drain into the dishwasher. The man at the dishwasher store thinks it is water from the sink, but I do not see why that would start happening when I have had a dishwasher there for 20 years. It usually takes 2-4 days to get water in the bottom of the dishwasher after we have run it. This time, we did not use the sink next to the dishwasher for 4 days, and no water has come into the dishwasher. However, I do not understand why when I filled the sink completely full and then took the plug out that no water went into the dishwasher. The hose which carries the water out of the dishwasher goes pretty much directly from the dishwasher positioned low and up to the pipe where the sink drains, positioned high. There is no loop in it. This is how it has been for 20 years with no problem. This is a plastic tube. The smaller metal tube which I assume carries the water into the dishwasher has a loop in it which I made sure it was looped up. My old dishwasher got water in the bottom one time (in February) I did not run it any more thinking it was broken. We simply bought a new dishwasher. Now that the new one is doing the same thing, I am puzzled as to why. Nothing has changed so why all of a sudden am I having this problem?
Hi BB,
There are only 2 places the DW can get water from. One is the drain line and the other is the supply line. We need to eliminate one to diagnose the problem, OK?
The first picture is a drain hose gone wrong...
Inspect your drain hose. If it looks like the pic above, you gotta fix that. Even IF that's not the problem right now... it will be in the future (and MAY be contributing to the problem now). You'll need to loosen the clamp, remove the drain hose from its' fitting, pull as much slack as you can get from the DW and then make a "loop" in it before reconnecting it. Like this...
The DW drain loop should be as high as the highest part of the sink...
I know that you have done a lot of experimenting in an attempt to figure this out. Just make sure that the drain hose is installed properly to eliminate it as the cause of the flood issue.
After you've made sure about the drain hose, leave the DW alone overnight. If you see water in the tub the next morning, you definitely have a failed valve on your DW. Since it's new (less than a year?) the valve is under warranty and will be replaced at no charge.
Hope this helps. If it's out of warranty let me know and I'll do the part look up for you and provide detailed replacement instructions, OK?

Part 1544681 has come off. Cannot reattach. Looks like another piece should stick through the hole. Am I missing a piece?
I have had the same problem twice. After paying for a replacement part and waiting for it to arrive once, i decided to try fixing it myself and came up with a fix that works realy well dispite the manufactures bad design. I used a small "Butterfly" bolt.
Grind down the wings so they will rest only on the inside rim and allow the part to spin. Cut the bolt to the proper langth. Drill a through the middle of the larg part and use the bolt to hold it all together. Water can still pass around the bolt. Hope this helps.

Everytime we open and close the racks they squeak VERY loudly. It does not matter if they are full of dishes or empty.
WD 40 on the rack wheels and the tracks this will get rid of the squeak. cycle the dishwasher through a quick rinse b4 washing any dishes.

blinking lights on frigidaire dishwasher
Hello - Try resetting the dishwasher by disconnecting the power to the unit. This will clear most flashing lights. You can disconnect power by flipping the circuit house breaker off and back on for approximately two minutes. If this does not prove to be successful, contact a professional to move forward accurately. Dishwasher could possibly have a faulty control board or wiring failure.

clean sanitized washing lights flashing
Hello Brian, thank you for your post!
I understand Clean, Sanitized and Washing feature lights are flashing. Let's try resetting your dishwasher. This can be done by either unplugging or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn your dishwasher on. Confirm that the door is securely closed and select a cycle. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, it could potentially mean a number of things: a potential wiring failure, door latch assembly, or control board. At this point, I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose your dishwasher to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.
Best of luck, Chris!
