You only need to plug the 20+4 ATX power connector and how about the 8 pin 12V connector? Well that is use only for legacy type of motherboard that use to require it.
Hope it helps..

This means that their is a sound indicator but no sound comes out from your headphone.
I want you to double click the speaker icon found at the bottom of your task bar, along with the time and other icon.
A dialog box will appear, un-check all the option found on that window, add also some option by clicking the file options.
Thanks again.

Motherboard is not booting!!!!!
Hi Jay,
Is you're memory installed in the two yellow slots?
Try using only 1 DIMM in DDRII_1 slot.
Page 17 in you're manual. When using only one PCI-E graphics cards you do not need to plug in extra power to the board, as shown on page 19. (Only need this additional 4-pin Molex when running two PCI-E cards).
Check internal connector is plugged in item,
1 ATX_12V_2X (Pg. 23 in you're manual).
(System will not boot without this).
Also item, 2 main power 24-pin Molex cable is securely connected. Chassis Intrusion Header (By default is opened/no jumper). I don't like the CPU getting hot. It shouldn't. Do you have a spare heat sink & fan for you're CPU? Are you 100% the cooling system is running correctly?
Lastly, here is Gigabyte's Qualified Vendors List (QVL), for you're board. Corsair 2GB is not listed.

GA-MA790FX-DQ6 Mobo not POSTing Should i reset the bios??
no beeps, indicates you have faulty CPU or mainboard.
- remove all components even RAM and CPU.
- insert only CPU and Speaker (without RAM or any other componet).
- Boot and try to hear, there must be long beep for missing RAM, if not then try to re-insert the CPU or change the CPU/Mainboard.
Thanks and Good Luck

Windows Vista
If you are having trouble installing the drivers from the Gigabyte CD, than go to Gigabyte's web site for the GA-M61SME-S2 motherboard & download the Vista driver's you need. The web site has some newer drivers. Click on this link to go to the driver site.

If you are still having trouble. List what is not installing here.
Same for error messages.

Case fan runs on standby
Hi neezels, go to page 53 in you're manual. Scroll to the bottom of the page to ( System Smart FAN Control). This is you're case fan. This is why you're system fan is running while in standby.
By enabled you're case fan will still run but adjust it's speed acording to the motherboard temp. Even though you're system may be in standby you're case fan will continue to fun to maintain temp. (Pretty smart noard)!

Case fan runs on standby
If your case fan uses a 4pin molex instead of a three pin which pluges in to the board. Than that's why it only shuts off when the system is powered down.

Troubleshooting
What is the brand name of the ram you are using? If you look up on AMD's website, it will tell you what RAM is compatable with your processor and mobo. 45 degrees celcius translates to 113 farenheit. If it is a constant temp that way, it is ok. But just at IDLE speed, means the processor is getting over heated more than likely after opening multiple apps.

Troubleshooting
How long have you had the system in that configuration? It doesn't seem to be a heat issue running around 45 degrees unless that is the idle temp. I need you to try something, when it shuts down, immediately restart the system in bios and look at the temp for the processor again. I solved my issue by taking a side off of my case and putting a small desk fan blowing directly into it. My idle temp went from 45 down to 27 degrees celcius. In a perfect world, the cooler a CPU runs, the better the system will respond. Find those temps readings for me, and let me know. Also, there may be a small monotoring program in your mobo set up disc to help monitor the temp while windows is running. And also, double check to make sure your processor fan is plugged into the correct spot on the mobo, mine is mislabeled, another issue I had found and corrected.

Troubleshooting
No, that's definately not the problem. The airflow seems to be adequate and the temp reading is effecient enough. Ideally, te the idle temperature of any AMD processor should not exceed 30 deg celcius. Look in the bios and make sure your speed is set for clocking to match the ram. Other than that, instead of hardware, I'd look into software config. IE, spyware/adware, Viruses. Beyond that, I will need system specifics in order to help further.

Trobleshooting
I had the same issue with my AMD Athlon 3800+ dual core. I found that I wasn't getting enough airflow to keep the system and processor cool. You may want to check the heatsink and fan rating for your processor unless it was sold in a bundle. Also, On AMD's of such power, they tend to run hot if overclocked. Look into, if you haven't already 2 case fans to go along with the processor fans. I recommend a 90mm in front and a 80mm in the rear of the case. If this doesn't help, let me know.
