Headphone jack does not work

The headphone jack on the computer connects to the sound card, a hardware device that controls audio input and output on the PC. The card contains a digital-to-analog converter that converts analog audio into digital signals and visa-versa. The performance of the headphone jack, therefore, depends on how well the sound card functions; if the card doesn't work, then the headphones connected to the PC won't output sound. Reconfiguring the audio settings will often fix problems with audio output on the headphone jack, but if the former fails to resolve the issue, replacing the sound card in its entirety is sometimes the only means of repair. Click "Start." Enter "sound" into the search box. Select "Sound" from beneath Control Panel. Double-click "Headphones." If no "Headphones" option is available, double-click "Speakers." Click "Properties" on the General tab. Check the Device Status field for errors. Look up the message on Microsoft Support for more assistance, if applicable. Close the window if the Device Status field reads "This Device Is Working Properly." Go to the "Levels" tab. Click the speaker button to unmute the volume if the icon contains a red circle-backslash symbol. Drag the top slider to the right to increase the headphone volume. Go to the "Enhancements" tab. Check "Disable all Sound Effects." Go to Applications, and then clear "Allow Applications to Take Exclusive Control of This Device." Click "OK" to close Headphones Properties or Speakers Properties. Test the audio. If the headphones fail to output sound, unplug the headphones from the computer. Reconnect the headphones to the PC. Headphone jacks are color-coded lime green on most PCs. Look for the headphones symbol if the jacks are not color-coded. Plug the headphones into the line-out port on the back of the computer if the headphone jack on the front of the PC fails to work, or visa-versa. Test the headphones. If headphones still won't emit sound, the sound card most likely requires replacement. b> Replacing the Sound Card b> Shut down the computer. Remove the power cord from the back of the PC. Disconnect the keyboard, mouse, monitor and all other peripheral devices. Loosen the screws found on the back of the case, then slide the cover panel off of the case. Touch the chassis to protect the hardware from electrostatic discharge, or ESD. Set the computer on its side. Locate the sound card found on the opposite of the audio jacks and loosen the screw that secures the card to the computer. If no expansion card is located opposite the jacks, the computer uses an integrated sound card which can't be removed. Remove the new audio card from its protective packaging. Line up the card with an available expansion slot on the motherboard, then push the card down into the slot to install the new audio jacks. Screw the card to the computer case. Reassemble the computer. Turn on the PC. Boot in to Windows and insert the CD that came with the new expansion card. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the sound card software to the computer. Plug the headphones into the new line-out jack. Hope this helps.

Can I upgrade my processor to i5 for my acer 4738z pentium dual core laptop

In general it is possible to upgrade the processor of a laptop, the socket has to be the same. A faster processor may or may not produce more heat than your current one, the heat output is mainly distinguished by the watts the cpu uses.

It is though not very practical to change the CPU. Same socket means that you are bound to processors of the same era, you cannot get a state of the art architecture processor (like i3, i5, i7) with the same socket your P6200 has.

Next point is that it is not that easy to change the processor inside of a laptop, the parts are very tightly screwed into the casing making it hard to do anything in there. additionally you are likely to destroy something or unintentionally wont be able to fit all the pieces in place afterwards.

Looking at the list of pentium processors at wikipedia. It says the P6200 uses a Socket G1, as you can see in that list there are only four CPUs using this socket, and only one that would count as better as yours. So clearly: No, not worth it.

Actually there are some i7's out using the same socket and drawing only 35W, but I wont guarantee that it actually would work, and I doubt that the laptops hardware is made to support this CPU.

It is possible, but I would not recommend it.

I am not able to download office 365 but I prefer window8.1 which I purchased for my other computer. also,I am not able to sync my mail accounts.

Hi; office 365 is a cloud service, you should not be able to download it, you can still connect your "software" from your pc to sync with your "cloud" account, and it does not matter if you are using windows 7, 8 or 10! I would need more details in order to help you, thank you.

F1 -f12 don't work

This is usually because the acer utility program is not running. Try reinstalling it. Go to the Acer website, support section, choose your note model and Windows version from the list and it will give you drivers to download. Amongst them will be an utility that controls these hotkeys.

YOU HAVE A DVD recovery cd Acer Aspire E1-531-406 PLEASE

ACER does not provide this service for that product. Users are expected to read the User's Guide, and in there it gives instructions on how to create Recovery Backup and Drivers and Applications Backup Disks prior to getting too far into use of the device. There is apparently no recovery partition that can be used, as it is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation. Under the circumstances, if you are down without backup media, unless you purchase a new OS disk (it doesn't have to Windows 8) and install that, you are stuck with a brick for a device. Their support website has hardware drivers for both Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you wanted to install Windows 10, odds are good that all drivers will be included in the OS itself. For any that are not, the Windows 8 driver would probably work just fine. Or just buy a new laptop.
