Get an error "err surface burners off" when starting self-clean mode

I have the same problem with my GE Profile gas range. Every time I try to lock the touch panel (pressing and holding RANGE LOCKOUT), this message shows up. Every time this happens, the message goes away in a few seconds, but the touch panel never really locks. I didn't realize this wasn't the proper behavior until last night.
Last night, I did the same, but this time the "err turn burner off" message would not go away and there was an audible alarm beeping at once per couple seconds. I cycled the power by turning off the circuit breaker and back on, but every time the same message and alarm comes back.
When the err message is on, no gas is fed to the burners -- when I turn the dials, no gas come out from any of the burners. I guess this message is to alert the user that one or more of the burner dials are still in the open position and is telling the user to turn them off to the closed position.
Even though all four burner dials are in the fully off position, one of them was apparently not recognized by the sensor as being in the fully closed position. By turning this dial slightly in the clockwise direction just a little past the off position (even though it already appears to be in the fully off position) allows the sensor to recognize that it is now off. The error message and the alarm goes off and the panel then showed LOC, indicating that it has entered lockout mode. After that, I can unlock the panel by pressing the RANGE LOCKOUT button again.
So for me, the problem seems to be that the sensor for one of the dials was not registering that it was closed, and turning it a slight bit past off did the trick. The other three burners have no issue.

Controls on stove are frozen. Clock blinks and two choices just flash on and off..

There are similar problem: Oven control panel frozen with all functions on this panel shut down but oven light on that can't be off.

once you have the conversion kit, here is a simple procedure to follow to convert your range. Most conversion kits come with step-by-step instruction sheets. Also, use a piece of black electrical tape and fold it over the edge of the socket you'll use so that part of the tape is inside the socket. This will maintain a hold on the orifice when removing it so you don't drop it inside the stove top.

There are adjustments on those burners. The flame should be mostly blue. I would not recommend that you perform the adjustments yourself.

BROILER DOES NOT BROIL-coils will not get hot

replace the "broiler Glow Bar" and you will be good to go. Here is that part to order.
There is also a video on that parts page to show you how to make the repair.
