Zone 2 doe's not work Ihavetwo speakers that are outsde they are zone 2 when a am to the tuner I press zone 2 ad it shut off

Possibly a shorted speaker wire? If you remove zone 2 does the amp still shut down? If not, connect one side at a time and try it. Do you see the word protect on the display when it happens?

Denon 1908 no sound

Try inserting a headphone plug into the headphone jack and remove it. Sometimes these units have a problem in the headphone jack where the unit thinks there are headphones plugged in even when there isn't. This cuts all the audio output to the speaker jacks. If you never plan on using the headphone jack, you can also go inside of unit and unplug the cable that goes to the headphone jack board. Just make sure you unplug the unit before you do this, the plug is close to the main power switch.

Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

I have a Denon receiver

There's a clue there. Loud hum and tampering with wires changes something. Disconenct all speaker wires and see how that works out. Then add one at a time.

Denon AVR 1908 keeps shutting

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

UNIT TURN ON THE THE SPEAKERS MAKE A LOUD

You might want to disconnect the speakers at this point just in case they haven't been irreparably damaged by the amp problem.

Try the amp 'naked" (no speakers). Does it still cycle off? Take it to a technician. If it stays up try one speaker; then the next. At some point you will either have identified the failing component/channel or the failure will have gone away (doubtful).

Speakers make a popping noise

You probably don't have a problem with the speakers. Next time you turn the receiver on, before you put on any music, turn the volume control back and forth several times and see if you don't hear a hissing in the speakers. If so, the volume control needs cleaning inside. You can buy audio contact cleaner from Radio Shack. The best solution is to unplug the stereo unit, remove the top cover to expose the controls. Spray the cleaner into the controls (you might as well do them all while your in the unit). The cleaner is highly volatile and will remove dust and debris but leaves no residue. Once you complete this operation you can replace the top cover and the problem should be resolved. If not, you may need to repeat the procedure.
Note; Be patient. It takes time for dust to build up and time to remove it all.
