This unit maybe faulty, all one can do is try to reformat it, try to format it FAT16 and see if it will do so, if it will NOT it is faulty.

It depends on your operating system but is similar for most windows versions.
For windows 7/vista
Click Start Click computer right click the flash drive and click format check quick format and then click start
Note: this will erase everything on the drive.

Try it on another computer. If it works, then your computer's USB port has problem. Check the ports and make sure they are properly connected and are cleaned. Also make sure the USB driver is updated/installed. You can also try it on another USB Port of your computer. If it doesn't work on another computer, then I would say your Flashdrive is bad or gone.

Hi,

Since you just purchase you Thumb Drive Yesterday and you said that other usb devices have been detected you can ask the store where you purchase it to check and if it is not working they might replace it with a new one provided that it has a warranty on it.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Scan the device for Virus's first.
Secondly use CMD to copy off file(s): Make a folder on C: called USB. Then in command type: cd xcopy C:\USB /E /H /Y

Format the Device.
