This is a inner/outer burner type assembly? Sounds like a glass top.Either way, your switch for that burner or the burner needs to be replaced.If you are able and it is possible, inter change switches to see if it makes a difference. Interchange Large with large, small with small.If yous switches are connected as one unit, you will not be able to do this. Sorry, I have not looked up your wiring diagram.

Unscrew all parts and lay them out on the garage floor. Scatter them and mix em up good. When done, try and figure out what goes to what. If you have parts left over when done reassembling; just toss them out.

However, more than likely the hinges would either need to be loosen/tighten or replace depending if they are too damaged. The weight of some range doors and how they are closed can wear over time.
