Lowrance LCX-27C GPS Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I have a lowrance lcx-27c.
The first thing you should check is if the install has been done correctly. Here is the user manual with all you need

Your unit is a distributed system: several (in this unit 4) sensor/auxiliaries modules connected to a central unit that does pretty much everything. In your case the GPS sensor is not responding. So either it's defective or the cable connecting it to the central unit is damaged or plugged incorrectly.
You have tried all the connectors on the NMEA network T - connector (i'm assuming the install was correct and the network is powered, it's the one that powers the GPS sensor and without it the sensor is dead) so it's not a plugging problem. The only thing you can still check is the continuity of the cable: use a multimeter and check every single pin connector in there from one end to the other and see if the wire connecting it is intact. If the cable is good then i'm sorry to tell you but the GPS module has failed and it will have to be replaced. The only one that has a new sensor is Lowrance, you will need to contact them.

The LCX-27C will draw up to 1.5 amps when powering up, if that amount of current is now available, it will power down. Double check your power connections. The +12vdc supply must be able to also supply enough current. Once you get it to stay on you can temporarily shut off the transducer by going into full mapping mode, or switch it to sonar simulation and the current draw will drop considerably. When you are ready for the permanent installation run solid connections directly to the battery and be sure to use the inline fuse for protection.

The unit will give you speed over ground directly form GPS. there is a difference between Speed Over Ground (SOG) and ocean speed. Ocean speed will only be available from a paddle wheel type transducer.

I've had several similar units, and used them with Navionics HotMaps Premium series chips. You must select Menu. The "Browse files" to access the MMC card option. Once the selection screen opens, choose which card or file you want.
FYI...All of Lowrances HD models come preloaded with pretty much every major lake and river in the US.
Lemme know if this helps...

Lowrance 5200c wont display Navionics map.
Hi,
Please test the backup sd card on another GPS if possible to see if the zoomed-in section of the map file shows up or not. If it shows, then you'd need to send in your lowrance gps for repair from the water damage.
Thank you.
