Holding the power switch for 12 seconds should clear this. It is a soft reset and shuts off the power to the unit.

jack the GPS to your computer, and run the download on it.

Reselected english language now everthing works fine.

it is in the box it came with, on the back of the instruction book.
If you did not buy it 'new in the box', you will have to refer to the 'activation' code sent to you email.
The Garmin Nuvi 760 does not require SD card maps if you are using it in the US, btw...

It is perfectly normal for the satellite signal accuracy to change frequently and this is nothing at all to worry about. Go into your settings and preferences and make sure the WAAS setting is selected. This will give you the maxium accuracy. The jerky movements are the graphics loading was tge map scrolls and again this is no problem. Enjoy your GPS the are a lot of fun.

I had a similar situation. My 760 could not be switched on, despite a fully charged battery. The hard reset procedure (power button held for 8 seconds) fixed my problem.

Make sure voice is enabled, Tools -> settings -> language -> voice

Select the language you want to use and make sure the voice is turned on.

Reads like the crystal is broken...

It is possible to have  the screen replaced in these devices, however the cost is normally above 50% of the original purchase price, of said device as the touchscreen is the most expensive part.

I never take mine out of the car unless it is in the protective case,(purchased separately) to prevent
this from happening. I've dropped mine twice. The $25 I paid for the case, is priceless given how much our 760 costs!

The only way to get rid of that, would be to contact Garmin customer support, tell them of your issue, and get a new flash card

Have you checked the sound level, or the possiblity that it is muted?
this is common with the 760 since everything is accessed via the touchscreen menu

If you bought a generic AC charger that claims to work for the 760 which doesn't have the mini-b end, you bought the wrong one.!
That (mini USB) USB port is the only place to charge the battery on this model

Go into your PC's Device Manager and make sure the computer is recognizing that your Nuvi is connected to it. If not, y0ou might need a driver, for USB, or your plug isn't working correctly. Contact customer support

Hi I have this model too. You must have the 120v charger with the Mini-B  port on it. It plugs into that port on the bottom(PS3 controllers cameras, and other Computer devices often have a mini-B USB

i think this is a fimware fault.. do a firmware update this will get solved..

Tools>Settings>Language>voice. Make sure you have one selected. American Jill or Australian Karen have good TTS.

but if this does not solves your problem then

Did you have anything plugged into the audio-out headphone jack? Some nuvis may be suffering from the problem where even after the headphone plug is removed, the internal contact which mutes the speakers stays engaged.

The cure is to insert and remove the plug "vigorously" a few times.
also ---- you didn't happen to Mute the sound? From the Main screen, tap Adjust and check the bottom middle button.
------------ found that under Language (Tools->Settings->Language) American English had been replaced by Africaans. As soon as I set it back to American English, voice directions began again. Check that setting.
if still the problem not solved then its probably the speaker wire loose internally.get it resoldered at local electronics repair shop.if familiar with it can do it your self .but not familiar a repair person is advisable.the cost for resoldering is very negligible.if under warrany get it done at service center of nuvi.

On the Garmin website, goto Support and then Manuals.
Under 'Select Market...' select 'Mobile Electronics'
In the second list, select 'Automotive'
Now the third list should contain all the Garmin GPS devices.  Select your device and click 'Show Me'
You should see the Owner's Manual listed.
