Cant get cable tv

HelloFirst connect the cable to its cable input socket at rear. Turn the tV On and enter its Menu option window. Press UP or DN button on the remote control to select 'Cable'. Selecte EZ scan [channel search]. The TV must scan for all available channels, and will stop after all the channels has been stored in its memory. You have to wait till the search function stops; no other functions with remote cannot be done, and the set will not respond any external command, either by remote control or by its front panel control, except the mains power ON/OFF switch will work. OK.

I have a Zenith 50PC3DB-UE

The sustain boards are the most likely source of the problem. Its the buffer boards that should be tested first. It seems like I do not have the service manual for this model. If you can upload it to mediafire.com and get me the link to the file, I will have a look and break it down for you.

Whar channel should be on to play a DVD?

It depends on which input you have the DVD plugged into. The pictures below show the different inputs. One of those should match what you see on the back of your DVD. If you don't know which, you can turn on your DVD player and hit the INPUTS button shown on the picture of the remote control shown below. Or, if it's connected to one of the inputs pointed to by the DIRECT SELECT arrow on the picture of the remote control, you can go there directly from watching the TV. phillip_d971_1.jpgphillip_d971_2.jpg

TV is dead. Power light is not illuminated.

It sounds like your power supply has failed. This could be caused by bad capacitors in the power supply itself, or it could be caused by some other circuit board, likely the Y-sustain or Z-sustain board, or both.

This solution assumes you feel comfortable working on the tv yourself - if not, it will need to be fixed by a service technician.

Begin by removing the back cover. You'll need to take out all the screws that have an arrow pointing at them. You'll only need to remove the large cover, not the smaller one where the audio/video connections are located. Put the screws in a plastic sandwich bag so they don't get lost.

The power supply board is in the center top area. Check the tops of all the capacitors. They should all be flat. If any of them are bowed out or deformed then you have a bad power supply board that will need to be replaced, or replace the caps if you're capable. If the caps look ok then check the fuse at the bottom right of the power supply board. Go to the appropriate paragraph below.

1) IF THE FUSE IS GOOD: you likely have a problem with one of the sustain boards. Unplug the connectors on the Y Sustain (Ysus) that sit between the two fuses. Plug in the tv and see if the power supply board comes up. If it does you'll hear a click and see the green light on the front begin flashing. This indicates one or both of the sustain boards has failed.

To determine which board has failed, reconnect the Ysus connector from the power supply and disconnect the connector at the top left of the Zsus board. Try turning on the tv. If the power supply comes up then you have a problem with the Zsus board. If it doesn't come up you have a problem with the Ysus board and/or the Zsus board. The power for the Zsus board is routed through the Ysus board, so if the Ysus board is bad you won't be able to check the Zsus board.

Many blogs recommend replacing both if one is bad because they're both high failure items, and replacing one without the other means you may have to go back and replace the other after a short while.

2) IF THE FUSE IS BAD: You may have a problem with the power supply board. Check the caps for any deformed tops. If so, you'll have to replace the board or the caps, depending on your skill level. After making the replacement, disconnect the power to the Ysus and verify you have a good power supply board.

After warm-up screen flashes and

Sounds as if a cable connection is bad. Check the cables first. If cable are good, change inputs, if cables are bad replace cables. If it's component, make sure that red, blue or green didn't come loose on both sides...the tv and the source. If you still have problems, check for red video noise on the screen itself, preferably when it's on but with on input (black) If you notice this, your plasma is failing.

I have a zenith tv

If you have an HD receiver you will want to use one of two types of cables; you can use component cables which have five ends red, blue, green, red and white, or you can use an HDMI cable which will have one flat connection. If you have a standard definition receiver you will want to use RCA cables these have three ends red yellow white. The connections will be labeled on the television as well as the receiver. Once you get this connected hit the input/source button on your TV set if you're using RCA cables you want the TV set to video 1 or video 2. If you're using an HDMI cable then set the TV to HDMI 1or 2 using the input /source button. If you use Component cables set the TV to Y/PB/PR or component 1/2.

My plasma tv has a

That is a screen defect - either a power or address line has gone out. If your set is still under warranty, exchange it ASAP. If your warranty is expired, a good repair shop may be able to fix it- be sure to get an estimate first.

This problem is only repairable if it is a wire bond outside of the screen, and I am sorry to say that chances are much higher of it being inside the screen itself, and that is not repairable.

A plasma screen is made of two glass panels with a thin gap between them, under vacuum and then backfilled with a very small amount of a rare gas mixture. The inside faces of the glass panels are silkscreened using a conductive paste, with thousands of horizontal lines on one plate and thousands of vertical lines on the other plate. The lines can be thought of as very thin, flat wires. They are addressed in a manner that where they cross one another, a plasma "pixel" is created. When a row goes out, none of the pixels in that row will work, causing a dark line. What often happens is one of these lines will crack near the seal in the panel, and then that row is lost forever.

Power does not stays on

Possible problems with poor solder joints in the main board. Remove the panel after disconnecting from mains and take a good look with a lens magnifier. Solder all the suspected dry joints and take a test. Make sure that when the set is triggered the power switch is working or the switch needs a replacement.

I have a z50p3 I tried to hook a samsung 1600

Sorry, man I have the same problem, with the same tv and player. Did you ever get a solution? LG Service Tech came out and his LG bluray player worked, whereas my Samsung didn't hooked to the TV. (It would spordically work going thru my HK254 AVR.)

He said either 1) the Samsung player was defaulting to a format that the Zenith being 3 years old could not decode (eg. 1080P) or that I might need to change inputs several times to get it to sync up or 3) by an LG Bluray player.

He said the Zenith was old and that newer sets are built with circuitry to help navigate the handshake easier. He couldn't find any service bulletins on it, and the one I got from LG he said didn't exist.
