Oven won't start

Very interesting. The ignitor is working, so that means you have power and the control is working. The safety valve is working, and you have a complete circuit. So why won' t she fire off? Inside the safety valve is a bi-metal that only opens if the resistance is right. The resistance only changes when the ignitor is on. As it gets hotter it changes in resistance. This allows the gas safety valve to release the gas and ignite. Watch this:

Need a book on how to cook with convection oven

Go to dealer you bought it at, and get one. If it's used, go online. There might be one you can download. If not I'm sure you can buy one there, if the unit is not that old.

Oven won't turn on but burners still will

if you removed the Ignitor the oven will not light it has a safety valve that operates at this same time the ignitor is trying to get hot once it reaches a certain amount of power it will open the valve for the gas.
you may need to replace your ignitor, and or your electronic control board.

Top burners on Frigidaire gas stove come on but

This sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.

The ignitor has gone out

If your igniter is no longer functioning, the following link explains how to access and replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575727-replacing_an_oven_igniter_on_a_gas_range

If the model number is correct, the part number for a replacement igniter is 5303935066. It comes as an installation kit with instructions. You can purchase one at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between these sites, so shop and compare.

NOTE: If the replacement igniter connector plug does not match your range, you will be instructed to cut the connector off and splice the wires together using ceramic wires lugs inlcuded with the install kit. DO NOT use standard wire lugs. They will melt due to the extreme heat in the oven. The igniter wires and wire lugs are heat resistant.

If you have any questions about this repair, or if your model number is different, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Oven doesnt lite

Does the broiler light? If so, it is likely your lower burner ignitor that needs to be replaced. If the range does not sense the proper amount of resistance in the ignitor, it will not turn on the gas valve.

My oven/broiler will not heat

ignitor needs to be changed. It is the rectangular part that lights up when your oven fires up. Even if you see it glowing orange, it does not mean that it is working correctly.

Oven burner won't light

The ignitor itself is what you need to change. It is probably around $30 depending on the model, but this controls that gas as well and acts as the safety device and will not ignite properly if it is worn out.

Oven won't light on low settings (170), no trace gas smell.

Igniting bar located on the inside of the oven it is a rectangular piece with one or two screws. It is basically a heating element that also controls the gas. Change that ignitor and it should fix it no problem.

Fridgidaire Gas Oven/Stove #VF01816502

This is your igniting bar it regulates the gas and the start up of the oven. It is at the bottom of the inside of your stove and if you take off the cover you will see it. It is rectangular and when you try to start up the oven it glows orange. Change this and it should work fine.

Smell gas

On the bottom of the oven on the inside you will find an igniting bar. It is rectangular and usually just has one or two screws in it. This is your problem, switch it out and it will work fine.

Erratic/slow heating

Hi, It sounds like you need to change the on=ven ignitor. Even tho it glows, it is weak and will not open the gas valve consistantly. It is a very common problem. Please let me know if I can assist you with part# or how to replace the part.

Thanks

Flames are extremely uneven and high

okay, DO NOT USE THIS STOVE ON LP GAS.

It's not intended to be used with LP gas, because LP gas requires a smaller orifice than natural gas. Call your propane supplier IMMEDIATELY...DO NOT USE THIS STOVE UNTIL IT IS CONVERTED TO LP GAS (if it's even possible)...this is extremely dangerous and you could hurt yourself if you continue to use LP gas on a stove that was designed to run on natural gas.
