2) or you can try taking off the brew head screen and removing the coffee oils.

I can understand how frustrating that can be. You might want to try and de-calcifying your espresso maker. After time the calcium and minerals in water can build up and clog the nozzle of the machine. You should be able to find a de-calcifying solution at a local cooking store. Also if you are trying to reach the manufacturer their number should be 770-509-3006.
