Hi poseidonisco,
I would attempt a Repair/Recovery, which will restore your device to factory settings as well as update the firmware and improve functionality of your player.
You can find a lot of valuable information on the Philips Support Site:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA3125/37&slg=en&scy=US
After performing the Repair, allow your player to charge for several hours and be sure to practice a regular charging routine. If you have any additional questions, you can chat at the above link or you can reach Consumer Care at 1-888-744-5477.
Hope this helps! If so, let me know by rating this solution. Thanks!
