yes this is correct, you can only have the same size memory card as what your iriver was originally. eg when I bought mine it was a 2GB so there for I could only add a 2GB memory card in it giving me a total of 4GB. if you buy a SD card of the same GB you wont have a problem

this is a major problem i found with iriver plus 3. it tends to stall quite regularly. i suggest using wmp11 its just as effective. it cannot convert files but it syncs up quite nicely

Iriver Plus 3 software should be able to get you back on track. :D

1. connect it to your computer
2. u have a few options

• Manually search the MUSIC folder of your x20 and delete the songs.
• sync it with a program such as iriver 3 plus or windows media player and delte it through the program
• reformat if your looking to delete everything

well u can buy yourself a micro sd card and use that...
as long as all the menu files ect are still on ur working x20 u can just slot in a micro sd with ur new music!
If you no longer want to listen to some some songs u can just format the internal memory in the settings > advanced menu.
it's a little bit annoying like swapping the batteries but it means that it's function is salvagable.
so to answer ur question it isn't technically dead so long as u have a way to charge ur x20 and update ur music photo's ect...
im not too sure what u mean by lists though...
if ur wanting to know whether the port is salvagable im guessing probably not.
if its just a wiring solder problem and ur compotent in solder work then u can try if ur willing to risk it.
but i probably wouldn't

i've recentlly had the same thing but mine fixes itself immediately after scrambling for 2 secs...
in your case though, if its just 1 song it could be the song codec. if otherwise then either try differnet headphones or maybe open it up and see if the headphone interface still works.

You can try the official iriver site to try to find the software
if after u install the driver software it still doesnt work im pretty sure that the USB interface is broken which means unless u know how to fix it and are willing to open the x20 ur iriver x20 is essentially dead

yea i know what ur talking about. unfortunately the iriver x20 can only read SOME types of playlists. for example the windows media playlist that some people use doesnt work but the .m3u files which u can convert on winamp does work. its a real pain i know but that's why i just add files while i listen to them on the music menu of the x20.

yea the iriver x20 isn't very reliable when it comes to video files. there could be like 10 things wrong with the codec and even if u fix all of them it doesn't help. your best bet is to convert to wmv using the iriver program or another program like winavi converter. its really fustrating i know but its just how the iriver works.

yeah, basically all i did was change my settings to MTP.
then i went into internal hardrive (just in normal usb mode)
i selected the songs i wanted and right-clicked (make sure to do this one one of the songs you selected) in the options that come up it should say "create playlist" (in bold) i clicked that, it wouldn't let me rename the playlist... but it worked fine... and now they come up in the right place, i didn't even use Iriver plus 3.

You can use iRiver Music Manger for Mac or XNJB to transfer videos, music from Mac to iRiver and manage the videos and music.

if it doesn't even appear on windows explorer either the sd card, usb link or iriver is defective. if all else fails try getting a memory card reader. this allows you to store files on the card through the computer and still be able to insert the card as external storage on the iriver x20. the only trouble with that is that its hard to get the card in and out of the iriver

well, unfortunately the problem would be with the wheel itself or the circuitry.
if you cant find anything else and you're desperate, open up the casing and clean the wheel thouroughly...

could simply just be the earphones... sometimes it just means ur heaphones are stuffed.
if its not the headphones either the player is stuffed or the audio format is something the X20 can't read
if its the player i'll be frank, you have no hope, there are no specialised stores that can fix it besides iriver international (they'll only take it if its still in warranty). you cant fix it yourself unless you have thorough knowledge of the circuit.
If its the sound format try changing it to mp3 or wma...

does the message stop you from using the iriver?
if it doesn't then there's a format function on the iriver in the settings menu...
if it does then there may be a problem with the usb connection...
either the iriver isnt responding or the computer can't read it!
for the user below there is most likely a format will fix it...

there may be a problem with the menu files...

firstly reformat the x20 using the device itself...
after that install the iriver plus 3...
there should be something on the program to reinstall it...
i also think that on the disc that comes with the iriver, there is an install that might help...
otherwise try and reformat the comp

iriver has problems with its video playback...
only certain formats can be played...
the iriver should have come with a converter on the provided program so just use that to convert the files to the format you need.
if that doesnt work try and get winavi converter.
