even if you can't know read the SD , you can use it as a backup to all your data
the sofware you need is clled ""customer support tool" from sharp
i'm still lookingin their site if ther're giving it for free

save your program data if you wish keep it on a sd card
remove the batteries and unplug. wait 5 minutes,, put key in, turn to reg and plug in.
you should get 3 beeps... all is set to default now and ready for programing

Receipt not printing
I believe this might help, not exactly familiar with this exact model but here it goes.
Receipt ON/OFF function
When you use the printer to issue receipts, you can disable receipt printing in the REG mode to save paper
using the receipt ON/OFF function. To disable receipt printing, press the Rkey in the OP X/Z position. This
key toggles the receipt printing status ON and OFF.
The register will print reports regardless of the receipt state, so the paper roll must be installed.
To issue a receipt when receipt ON/OFF function is set to OFF:
If your customer wants a receipt after you finalized a transaction with the receipt ON/OFF function being OFF
status, press the Rkey. This will produce a receipt. However, if more than 30 items were entered, the
receipt will be issued in a summary receipt.
You can print a copy receipt by pressing the Rkey when the receipt ON/OFF function is in the “ON” status.
To realize this function, you must enable the function. Please refer to page 62 (Job code 63).
Sharp era420 not printing on left side
If its feeding paper but not printing, make sure that you are using the correct thermal paper and that there is no extra bits of paper stuck under the printing head. Otherwise it might need a replacement printing head. If its not feeding the paper at all, then make sure that the receipt is turned on.

WONT CLEAR TRANSACTION
More information required. Please provide the model number of the cash register and the transaction that wont clear?
