Unfortunately you will have to buy an external cd/dvd drive simply because windows xp has no built in recovery partitions you will need the recovery cds to perform a factory recovery.

if nothing was showing up on the screen I would have checked the Video card first as its one of the simplest things to check but you need to borrow someone elses.

The light would be on cause the BIOS is looking for a hard drive. If you connect speakers or headphones see if you can hear windows booting up if there is something installed on it. If you can hear windows starting up good! its probably your video card. If nothing then your motherboard might be the culprit.

then your pc's video card has likely gone bad. first try powering off the PC, wait 30 secs and power on again. If you still get no display, and you know the monitor is good, you have a bad graphics card or some other hardware fault in the PC.

Please dont connect a cable modem to an internal modem.

These are not the same types of device.

you need to connect from the cable modem to the ETHERNET port.

They look similar but ethernet is slightly larger.

Dont use a telephone cord for the ethernet connection it is the wrong one.

if your comp will boot press f10 to get into the recovery to restore it otherwise go to www.everexstore.com for support you might be able to get a recovery disk from them.
