Replace it. Given I don't know how old this printer is or how much you paid for it; repair or replace it?

Go to HP.com and download the driver set, or call HP and ask for a new set but they usually charge for it.

1st, is it the right cartridge. 2nd h/p' slide in easily then require you to lower a spring loaded retaining lever. did you lower the retainer? Did you remove the tape over the ink jets before you put it in?

lift the top of the printer and you will see the inks,press the "ink" button on the printer and the heads will move into a space where you can get to them, lift the cover of the inks and you will see the different colored ink cartridges, these have to be lifted from the front of them so look for a press in plastic strip,press that in and lift the front up. i will add photo of the plastic lock

it will have its own head cleaner program ,try this. click on the start bar ( bottom left of your screen ) open control panel,open devices and printers,look for your printer ( hp ** ) now RIGHT click on the name of your printer,go down to properties,left click to open properties, all your options will be in there for maintenance ( head clean etc )

connect it correctly and down load the correct driver for it into the computer
