Shouldn't you have investigated the file transfer abilities of the equipment before you purchased the camcorder ?

I am not a Mac expert, but usually the software that comes with electronic devices is designed to be Windows compatible.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I had the same problem, the .mov format was not the best choice. I have adobe pre 2 and pin. studio 11 and neither will work with .mov file . So I have to use vid crop to convert it. It works but its an extra step.
I wish they would have used something like an avi file. But the picture quality is so great I cant complain about spending $130.

Try reformatting the media, if using an SD card, replace it with another and use a PC and format it FAT16 with a PC and USB dongle return it to the unit it should be OK, you may have to format again after you put it in sometimes too.

The best way to download videos from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any video cataloging program, such as iMovie on Mac or Windows Movie Maker on Windows.
