[email protected] I have a lumix

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I cannot retreive my photos

Something is pretty mixed up here, I can see the computer not wanting to load the pictures files again because it sees the file numbers already. If you are downloading the pictures from the camera this will be a problem as you need to go through the camera software and of course there are duplicate numbers and it isn't going to happen. However if you purchase a card reader, one that fits the memory card from your camera (fairly inexpensive) it plugs into the computer USB port and the memory card plugs into it. The computer then looks at this as an external hard drive. You would then create a folder in "My Documents" give it a name that you can relate to what's in the folder copy and past the picture files from the memory card into this folder. The open each image one at a time and change the file number all it takes is one digit once that's done you can work with these anyway you want without fear of a number clash. I know what happened and this will work.

How can I diagnose / clean / fix SD card reader on

Hi,

Memory card issues are quite common on digital cameras.

Here are a few pointers to get you going:
  1. For digital photography, I would suggest that you format the card in the camera.
You will need to insert the card in the camera and then go into the camera's menu system and choose format.
  2. In case formatting the card does not help, please try to use another Memory Card to isolate if this is a card issue or a camera issue.
  3. Please check if the card is Write Protected. This could be an issue as per your problem description above. There is a small sliding lock on the side of the card, you will need to have that in the unlocked position please.
  4. In case the issue persists, it could mean the the write protect on this card was perhaps set by mistake while it was connected to the computer. You will need to use the computer to cancel the read-only setting.
Please connect the card to your computer through the camera or a card reader and cancel the write protect on the card. Right click on the card and go to properties and uncheck the "Read Only" box.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

Sorry for the extreme delay in answering your question: I've been trawling for old unanswered questions today and yours came up. The following answer will undoubtedly be way too late to be of use to you, but may assist others searching FixYa for an answer to the same problem.

You have been mistaking SD cards for SDHC cards. They look the same but are different, and your camera cannot use SDHC cards as it was designed before they existed. The limitation is due to the hardware in your camera so it cannot be updated to SDHC standards.

Your 2GB card was definitely an SD card as SDHC cards have a minimum capacity of 4GB, and 2GB SD cards are the maximum capacity which your camera can handle. Your only fix is to either stick to 2GB maximum capacity SD cards or to replace the camera with one which is SDHC compatible.

How to remove memory card locked from panasonic

Hello

OK, if the memory card itself is locked, you might sometimes get this error code. All you need to do is to take out the memory card and switch the lever on the left side to the unlock.

6c99e31.jpg

If the error is still displayed after you did the above, you might want to try the card in another camera.

If the card works in another camera . the problem is with your card reader in your camera.

If you open you sd slot and look inside with a sharp light , you should be able to see on the left side of the slot there is a little copper or spring steel lever switch. This switch work as follows:

1. When no card is inserted / no write protection , the switch is open and thus the protection is off.
2. When locked card is inserted , the tab is depressed and tells the camera that the card is lock.

Contrary to popular belief ,the little tab on the sd card is not an electronic switch and does not physically influence the card operation itself. If you put a locked card into a camera without a sd lock switch , you would still be able to use the card normally.

It is incredible difficult to fix this switch because of space limitations in the sd card. Look into the sd slot and if you can see the switch , use a needle to pull the little tab down toward the base of the camera by about 2mm or until it works being careful not to bend it.

If this does not resolve your problem , there might be a short in the switch circuit and the camera will need to be disassembled to resolve this error. This should cost no more than $50.

Please feel free to contact me if you need further information

Kind regards
Andrea

Camera only comes on when connected to dc adapter

When you open the battery hatch you'll see a set of metal tabs that work like springs holding the battery up to the contacts on the other side of the casing. As the camera is jolted up and down these compress and the battery no longer makes contact to the metal wires that deliver power the camera. To fix this you will need to bend, stuff, extend, or solder somewhere to restore the connection.

The other option is that the battery is actually bad, but the latter is WAY more likely.

Memory card lockes on my panasonic lumix

If you take the card out of the camera, there's usually a tiny little switch on the card itself.  You can lock the card so you don't accidentally write over important photos.  Because it's so tiny, it's easy to switch it accidentally...and some are loose so they switch over on their own.

Small scratch on front lens causing shadow on some

You have only two fix options:-

1. Get the front lens element replaced by Panasonic. This will be fairly expensive. Afterwards, buy and fit a skylight filter to protect the lens.

2. Buy a skylight filter to protect the front of the lens from further damage and use photo processing software to retouch the affected images. This won't necessarily cost much, but will be a real pain to have to do all the time.

Whatever you do, do not attempt to polish out the scratch as this will destroy the lens coatings and will also reshape the lens slightly ruining it's optical qualities.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 black - memory card locked

Remove the SD card and slide the lock switch on it to the unlocked position. If it's already there then slide it fully to locked and then fully back again.

If this fails then you need to try another SD card to see whether it's a camera fault. If the camera is at fault then there's nothing more you can do other than to return the camera to Panasonic for repair.
