Full reset/factory reset will remove your record schedule but not your recordings.

Recordings are possibly lost when replacing the software for updated versions.

My DMR-E95H displays: "CHK REMOTE2" whenever I push a button on my "replacement" remote. Is there a way to reset the DMR-E95H without the original remote?

Factory reset on many Panasonics is to hold down Channel Up and Channel Down buttons at the same time, for over 5 seconds.

That should clear any PIN entries as well as resetting everything else.

Connect a suitable aerial via a coaxial/RF lead to the 'RF in' socket. Connect another coaxial/RF lead from 'RF out' to your TV, and/or SCART or HDMI leads.

Access the 'setup' option within the menus to tune in to Freeview broadcasts.

You can probably recover the files using file recovery software like RECUVA which you can download and use for free as seen in the following links:

Just use your mouse to click on the links, which are the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.

At the CNET free download page you can read about the software, check out other user's reviews, and download it to your computer for free if you want.

It is probably best to do this procedure as soon as possible. Do not record any more videos using that device and don't add or move around any data on it or some of the files may be overwritten and lost forever. Just keep the device turned off until you can remove the hard drive and access a computer to perform the procedure, or else have someone else do it for you like a technician at a computer shop.

When you connect and scan the drive using RECUVA, there should be a little circle beside each of the file names that it finds.

If the circles are GREEN, then you should be able to just tick the small selection box beside them on the left hand hand side and then click on the RECOVER button.

If the circles beside the file names are RED, then they may be just too corrupted to recover.

Here is a link to a website with some screen shots of the recovery process to help you out:

If you need a program to convert file formats then you may want to try a free program called VLC MEDIA PLAYER which you can download from WWW.CNET.COM

Here is the direct link to their download page where you can read about the software, check out other user's reviews, and download it free if you want:

Just click on the DOWNLOAD NOW (19.42 MB) button that you see on the left hand side of the page if you want to download it, then follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the program. Be sure to click on the yellow security bar at top of the page if necessary to ALLOW DOWNLOAD.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any details to add, have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

The original HDD will have firmware written on it by Panasonic. When you put a new HDD you might have to go into setup and format the HDD.
