I have had the same problem in the past, and as far as I can tell, the dvd player is really cheaply-made and just won't read the disc. If you ask me, it may be time to just bite the bullet and buy a new one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I wish you the best!

I had the same problem, and it seems to be a short in the video cable between the two monitors. I can bend my cable until i see the second screen and then tuck it under the headrest. I am currently looking for a replacement cable. I see it at 1800customersupport.com, but will also check the local radioshack since I need it quickly.
