Please try to put in an ordinary audio CD track and see if this is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning and the possibility of the head being faulty is high.
Certain cleaner disks may not work but the best is to cleaning manually the laser head eye with a cotton bud, very gently and without pressing of the lens eye.
If there is still no result then watch the CD if it spins or tries to spin. If the head unit moves up or down to focus or in and out of the drive, if so the board seems to work correctly and the possibility that the optical head unit is the suspected fault.
Need a Code Number to work with my Dish
1 - Hold the clear tv buttom until all 4 light flash red
2- Press the red tv buttom
3- Press the amount of time needed on the up cursor ( around select buttom) until your tv shut down
4-When the tv goes off press the search buttom ( at the end on the right side )
5-Press record
Then u can use the red tv buttom to control ur tv and u can control the volume on satelitte mode without going back to tv mode , if u press too much time while searching the code and the tv wont light back , do the same thing but instead pressing the up cursor press the down one to go back on the code it will be faster .
This way of finder code make the remote search 1 by one , usually dvd and other things else than television dont work , but give it a try might work but probably will just power on and off not more than that but will work fine with ur tv

You'll have to go into the menu setting of the VCR and turn the controls off, also you can try completely unplugging the VCR and then plugging it back in again to see if it goes away.
Cannot get VCR/DVD to play
I've had dish before, in essence, it needs to come from the dish to the dish receiver box, outta the receiver box, and then into your TV. Hope this helps.
No picture on VCR/DVD
Try to use AV cables they work better than RF cables in my opinion. AV out to TV in works everytime.
Universal remote
the code should be in the manual of your universal remote. see the brand or maker of your unit and check it on the remote manual
