You probably have bad capacitors in the power supply. That's not a good idea to keep turning it on-off. You can cause much more damage. Have it repaired ASAP.

My LG 37LC7D tv will work fine for a fw minutes

What about the sound? Do you still have sound when the image is flickering. God help the guy who replaced the T-con though. It sounds like a power supply or inverter issue, provided sound is not affected.

link your optical cable from your HD box to your surround sound.
Then if you go into your HD services menu, press 4 then go to sound make sure its set to Dobly D
That should sort your problem out

Sound and no picture

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. There is a constant buzzing

The sound is generated by the power source - it doesn't run smoothly because either it's defective (but 2 tv with the exact same defect one after the other is quite improbable) or you have a very bad mains power line, filled with interferences. Plug the tv thru a mains filter then check the voltage - if it's at 120 volts as it should and the sound is still there then return this tv also - you are really one of the unluckiest men alive.

LG HDTV (48"?) won't turn

The surge of power when the power came back on exploded the caps on the PSB-power supply board... You can call someone out but it will cost as much as buying a new one.

Best regards and Semper Fi

LG 37LC7D 37-inch 720p LCD HDTV

Unplug it for about an hour to let it reset itself and try again, if it still has problem then you will have to open it up or take it to the repair shop. The power supply module will have to be looked at first to make sure all the voltages are present. Right now the 5vdc standby power supply is working and may be partially function processor.

The television sparks when you switch it on.

I do not have any suggestion but you need to keep pushing them on the repair. This is the same company that is used to be called Gold Star from the 70's. it made a lot of cheaply made products like VCR's and TVs. They changed the name to LG (Lucky Goldstar, not much better than the old name) later on, who will want to buy LCD TV, and appliance with th name like Gold Star, Lucky Goldstar?
It looks like it never improve its products quality and services, new name with the same junk.

My TV takes about 5-10 minutes to come on - then

4 years old, you are very lucky that the LCD TV last that long!
You may have failing power supply module due to bad DC filter caps.
