You will need to perform a master reset, this will restore your device to the default factory settings. It is advised to back up your favorites to your computer. Turn OFF and unplugged the device from power Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the device ON Release the power button when the device powers ON You will see a new message: "Erase all user data?" Remove your finger from the touch screen when this message displays Touch Yes This will reset the device. Follow the on-screen instructions and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

I have the identical symptoms on a 2797 and can not get past this screen. I have charged it with the genuine 12v power cord and the battery last about two hours but still will not get to the map loading stage. Kevin H

The battery may be faulty, try connecting the GPS to your computer to see it will connect and starts charging. If it does not connect you have a serious problem probably not worth reparing as the cost can be as much as a new one.

Try to bring it to the place you got it and ask them.

I would suggest to check the volume and make sure it is not mute. If not working, reset it.

There is no blue tooth function in this model, so NO WAY.

Try to download Garmin Express in their website. Connect it with the computer and check for updates.

Usually if you did not use the GPS for a long time, it would take quite a while to acquire the satellite. Be patient!. The other reason is to make sure that you are not in covered area, go to outside and try again, it may take as long as 5-10 mins. Good luck!

check the setting to make sure it is not mute. adjust the volume as necessary. if not working, reset the machine to factory setting and try again.

My 2797 requires a 2amp USB charger to charge as the battery monitoring software identifies the source is inadequate and keeps saying use the cable supplied with it. Could be the same prob. Kevin H

you shoudl be able to get these on your MyGarmin account page under maps http://www.mygarmin.com/ or call Garmin Support and they can take a look at why the maps and see why they are locked http://www.garmin.com/us/support/ . f you have lifetime updates just run the update again and this time let it work overnight. It may be that the maps didn't get on their correctly. Also try formatting the SD card NOT THE DEVICE and try the update again.

Yes they will be in your favorites in the menu.

If you device is LMT model, go to download Garmin Express in your computer and then hook up with your GPS with your computer, follow the instruction and you will get free lifetime map and traffic updates any time you want. If your device is not LMT model, you have to pay each time you update your map and traffic which is expensive. Better to get a LMT model.

Looks like you can go to the setting and check the volume control. Some models with the + /- button at the side, just keep pushing the + button, the mute function would be off.
