JVC KD-G421 CD Player Questions & Answers
JVC KD-G421 - cannot access menu to add ext-in
The JVC KD-G421 only shows the option to change EXT IN from the CD changer to EXT IN when the current source is FM, AM or Disc . See the following page at ManualsLib:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/81662/Jvc-Kd-G421.html?page=15#manual . Assuming the J-Link cable that you added is the KS-U57 or KD-US58, the unit is still looking for (and not finding) the CD changer. Press the SRC button repeatedly until you get to FM or AM. (Disc will only show if there is a CD in the CD slot.) Then try pressing and holding Sel. Use the fast forward/up or fast reverse/down to get to EXT IN on the display. Then turn the tuning knob until EXT IN is selected. Press Sel again to save the setting. Now see if the EXT IN is listed when you press the SRC button. Page 13, https://www.manualslib.com/manual/81662/Jvc-Kd-G421.html?page=13#manual , shows the general procedure for setting the preferred setting mode.
I hope this helps.

If you are using adapter, KS-PD100, it is possible that new iPods wont work with this older adapter, I would recommend to connect your iPhone via AUX on the front of the unit
Attached cd player worked fine
Most CD players will have a very small hole you can fit a paper clip into and push it
in which releases the CD drive mechansim and starts opening the tray.
You may want to press the RESET button behind the faceplate first and see if rebooting
it will make it cooperate. If you dont have the detachable faceplate completely on
some of the symptons you describe could happen.
How do i use my ipod on it
If this is a cd changer type, then they have a connection that plugs in the cd changer port and straight to your ipod. Or you can get a nice little wireless fm transmitter off of ebay brand new for $1 plus shipping. You also can use the bluetooth if you have the correct options.
