I would first suggest that you check the door switches and switch holders. See this file.

If it is equipped with an inverter, that may be the trouble.

Fuse blown? Needs to make high voltage for the magnetron. A blown fuse usually means trouble in the high voltage system (a shorted HV diode or maybe a bad stirrer [metal fan-like device] bearing which is located just above the interior case under the waveguide assembly). If suspect, replace the stirrer as a unit. If fuse looks ok, maybe bad door interlock switch or not being operated by door closure.

Well the table might not be on the revolving piece- that is what happened to my microwave oven, or the revolving piece might have to be connected to a belt inside that turns it

As it is an older model, I would suspect the magnetron and or capacitor. Maybe the fuse has blown but it will happen again if you just replace it.

I would find someone that repairs and fixes small appliances then. I would search on Google and Yahoo small appliance repairs then.

That is called the door catch. Try espares.com or a Sanyo microwave repair centre for spares.

Mains borne power surges and transients are dangerous to semiconductor devices and especially CMOS devices - any equipment containing these should be provided with surge protection and because almost everything is a computer these days, this means almost everything! Regarding microwaves - I have been inside quite a few but so far haven't noticed any fuses protecting the control circuitry though there is usually one in the eht circuit. A power surge is unlikely to harm the components of the eht side. The voltages of the control and timer circuitry are quite normal but those of the eht side are beyond the scope of the ordinary multimeter. I don't have an eht probe so I have never measured it but at various times I have read the voltage is anything from 2000 to 7000 and because it is mostly transformer generated, it is exceptionally dangerous and if the discharge resistor is absent or not working the capacitor can be dangerous for a long time after it has been switched off.

Hi Alison!Wow. That microwave certainly doesn't owe you anything. Nice work on 23 years.While not able to come up with the exact specifications or owner's manual, I would guess that 850 to 1000 watts would be pretty close to the number for your unit, especially if it's running on a 15A breaker.Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.-Steve

That will not be easy - you will have to take the cover and front door panel off to get to the printed circuit board. The buzzer will be mounted on that somewhere.

You appear to be referring to the LCD/LED display above the touch panel, which is not a light bulb. If the panel display is dim it may be due to grime on the inside of the plastic transparent window. The whole touch panel has to be removed in order to clean it. Failing that, the panel would have to be replaced which may not be economically viable as it may cost more than to purchase a good working second hand or new oven. Before removing the cover of a Microwave oven in attempt to carry out ANY maintenance such as replacing the Oven cavity lamp, make sure the oven is disconnected from the power point ! The voltages in a microwave oven ARE LETHAL !
