If its a LG the color wheel is only sold as part of the optical light engine--the Zenith version uses 3 different light engines.

If you have time let me know what makes you suspect the Wheel?

enyoaq,

If you have never replaced the lamp I would do that first. See my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4168009-change_lamp_in_dlp_projection_tv. If this does not solve the problem I would replace the power supply board or repair it. To repair it see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r9179159-troubleshoot_power_supply_board.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

sounds like your colour wheel has gone, not something that can be fixed yourself i'm afraid

this problem seems to have corrected itself although the dark patch at the top of the set is still present.

I cannot think of anything in particular that i may have done to fix it but i have resorted to turning the TV off using the on/off switch after using the remote. Other than that i removed/replaced the bulb.

so far, it is 3 weeks and counting since i last had any problems.

Hi,
It might be worth checking that you haven't accidently activated the tv's sleep timer, I did on my LG DLP !!. always check the obvious first.

i think you'll find the lamp needs replacing

Normally when this happens, this is because of the power supply board is going threw some abnormal fluctuation. i would check this board for minor solder breakage.

I had the same problem ,is it plugged into a single socket outlet or a power board? If a power board it can cause problems, try plugging straight into the socket on its own and see how it goes.
