How can I transfer music
Hello,
connect the Archos into your computer, allow the computer recognize and install it, open the Archos and copy, then paste it into the Archos, eject if from your computer and that's all.

My archos 7 boots up ok but then the interface is
i didnt solve the problem,,,, i did a full format of the hard drive and then downloaded the firmware to re install everything but the problem was still there.... i contacted archos who suggested that it had a hardware problem and i would need to send it to them..... as yet im deciding if i want to go for a replacement or a repair, as i have installed the plugons and would loose them on a new machine...

I can't play all AVI's on my Archos 605
Hi,
Yeah you need to go to the archos website and buy the cinema plug in (£14.99) if you want to play all. the only other option is to convert the avi files that you cant play. Also if you want to play any mpeg4 files and quite a few other files with different audio codecs you need the podcast plug in (again £14.99). This is the only way to be able to play everything on your archos without converting the files - it's a bit of a rip off as each set of plugins is specifically downloaded for a product key so you cant even get one from someone else - believe me I have tried for days to get them free!

Syncing my Windows Media Player playlist over to a 605
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Go to the Archos website and type in your model number - my case 605 WiFi - and it shows you a list of firmware downloads. Just click to download the latest firmware update which you should save in your desktop - it's about 45Mb-. Once te download is complete open My Computer on your PC and click on teh Archos icon which takes you to internal hard drive icon, click on this icon and paste the update (aos) file from your desktop into this level of teh Archos - Don't paste it into any of the folders as it wont work!
When you disconnect your Archos from your PC it will display that it has found an update and would you like to install it, click on Yes and Voila! WMP playlist will now sync properly to the Archos!

Recovery update
Go to archos.com and download latest firmware to desktop.
Connect archos via usb cable.
Turn on archos
copy and paste file to archos root folder.
eject and disconnect archos and the update will begin

Video conversion
Hello Andrew,
Even though the website claims Archos can play videos of DVD resolution it cannot play videos of such big resolution 800 x 480..To
display the full DVD resolution, you would either
have to buy the HD add-on plugin (presumably for $20 as it is not
available yet), which allows resolution higher than 720x480, or to buy
the MPEG2 plugin, which allows you to play a raw DVD VOB file...So also
it plays videos of Square pixels,So try to reduce a bit of resolution
to 720x480....!!!!...Better Reduce the Resolution of the video to 740 x 480 and
the bit rate while Converting, so Your Archos can play the MOvie
Completely and you can watch it...Also I hope the Embeded Subtitles in
the movie(MP4) doesnt work for which you have to get a seperated
Plug-in i guess...Thank you!!!...

605 wifi won't start
Hi,
I was having a similar problem where my 160 gb Archos 605 would not hold a charge even after two days of being plugged in through an AC wall adapter. It worked fine for 5 months without a problem, but then all of the sudden it would not hold a charge even if the LED light was blinking green.
One thing that I found that makes it now hold a charge now is by letting is by plugging it in to a computer. I don't know why, but for some reason, now when I charge it through a computer usb as opposed to the wall adapter, it charges and holds a chrage for over 3 hours. So, maybe try to just let the thing charge through a computer.

BATTERY DOES NOT CHARGE
same happened to my 404 and it was the battery but unfortunately the battery is hard wired in and can not (easily) be changed... the cost for repair was going to be more than the cost of a new player... it went into the trash

CANNOT VIEW ON TV SCREEN
just click the the button on the top of the Archos beside the power button to switch between tv and screen modes.
