Ipod 30GB
Did you try different charger?
try the following solutions:
1: Try charing through the USB cable which comes along the IPOD.
2: If you have direct electricity charger, try charging it. its easily available in the market.
If none of the above works, then possible the IPOD Battery has gone bad, try replacing it from a trusted source.
All the best!!

How do I Unlock Ipod...
Hello,
follow the below procedures;
You can unlock your ipod with a computer by pluging the iPod into your computer. I mean the first computer you synchronized it with unless you have designated another computer as the primary computer.
Open iTunes and sync the iPod as normal, remove the iPod, following the normal removal procedure. The iPod unlocks automatically as you remove it.
If the above doesn't work, you can also try this;
Restore the iPod to factory settings if you do not have access to your primary computer. This erases all of the data you have stored on the iPod. Plug your iPod into the new computer you want to be the primary computer. Open iTunes and click on the "Restore" button. Reload your data, if it is available and sync your iPod. Remove it following normal procedures.
I hope the above is helpful.....
Good luck.
My iPod is not recognized
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. The "the USB device attached has malfunctioned" is a common issue of a usb device that is connected to the computer. If you can still use the ipod properly it seems that there is something that has been detect by windows that is malfunctioning on the iPod when you connect it. There are only 3 possible reasons. First is the cable that you are using and the other one is the port on the ipod where you connect the usb cable and the 3rd is the motherboard needs to be rebooted. You can try to change the usb cable or try to use the steps below and see if you will encounter the same error.
Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. Yes that's it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don't really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.
First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be "rebooted" also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!
So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.
If you are using a laptop you need to remove the battery to drain the power on the motherboard. Please let me know what happen so that we can continue troubleshooting.
If you have questions please let me know. Thanks

When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.

My 3 year old, 30 GB, applie iPod is having issues
Just so you know which type of iPod you need parts for, you have a 30 gb fifth generation iPod video. It sounds like your jack is faulty and not getting a good connection. A new jack from an online store is about $40. Just type in iPod parts in your search engine. Rapid Repair is at the top and they will do free diagnostics and they sell parts and have online tutorials showing how to very carefully replace these parts.
I have a white 30
at some time you were downloading to your ipod and something happen to the connection so the ipod is trying to finish the download. you may have to check you itunes app to stop the downloading or any updates that are pending. this may be the only fix that i can think of at the moment.
