U81 error literally means 'Microprocessor Communication Error on the Universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter'.

This error can be caused by a number of different reasons but one of the most common is a software / firmware problem relating to the Freeview part of the unit.

If you turn the unit off for 30 minutes it should reset the fault.

At this point to need to check what version of firmware you have installed and then check the Panasonic website for your country for the latest version.

HD takes more info and if you don't have a fast enough processor to handle this, that might be the problem.
The age of the recorder would tell you that. If it's 3 years old that might be it. Also how can the recorder record the HD signal unless it has the right tuner??

When your HDD (Hard Disk Drive) does not work, the computer would like a recovery disk, or with windows the Windows disk will do. If only the OS has some damage windows will see so and ask, should I recover the OS already on the HDD. If you choose that opting, the CD will try to recover everything. If your HDD is really defect and can't be recovered by the OS, toy have to replace the drive and setup the computer again.
