Tuning in phillips dvd recorder

Make sure you select the correct country when setting up dvd - i used the quick install leaflet which did not mention that selecting the correct country you were in was very important. I nearly went demented trying to find out why i couldnt tune the dvd properly.

simple omission!!!! but very important

How to finalize

i have spent 2 months looking for this answer myself... and at last success! i downloaded the user manual from funai(they made this model) available here: http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/MWR10D6.pdf on page 38 it instructs you to press setup on your remote, from the drop down menu you need to select disc edit and then select finalize. this aggravated me at first because nothing happens when i hit the setup button, i powered off the unit and hit setup before the disc loaded. this step is not mentioned but is necesary. you cannot finalize a disc after it has loaded to the title menu.

VCR WON'T RECORD

you may have the outputs hooked up correctly however you may need to set the inputs to the selected type of cable you are using. S video 1 cable or video input witch is an rca adapter yellow in color. you will find these setting in the "setup section" on the remote set up button will get you there and then input or source.

It won't turn on.

I'm having the same problem. The fuse is underneath the top panel which can be easily removed by removing all the small screws on the unit. The fuse is located towards the back of the unit just to the right of the disc casing. It's a small glass tube and is similar looking to a fuse used in christmas lights but this one is much larger. I haven't had the chance to go buy a new fuse but mine doesn't appear to be blown because there is no discoloration on the glass and the rod inside is fully intact but I am hoping it may still be bad. Once I have the chance to get a new I'll reply with any results. Anyway, hope this helps ya, naybe you can get your fixed too!

Is a Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder codec or driver needed to play DVD disks on computer?

There are work arounds... but the reason is when its burnt and finialized its written in .vob format which is dvd mpeg2 format. majority of windows media player codecs wont pick it up. divx does. its just the format its burnt in and you cant change obviously. you can just try like nero showtime which always works or ending up ripping the disc on the computier but that might defeat your purpost of burning them in the first place. Its not the dvd recorder i may add, its just the format. by the way its a magnavox unit made by funai... www.funai-corp.com/support and trust me your not going to get much out of their. your better off going into forums finding more high depth problems if you really want this to work for firends and families and such.

Connecting the DVD recorder to a Sylvania TV combo w/TV & VCR

Is the tv a combo unit and has a vcr. well, the way this dvd recorder works it needs the signal of the material that is wanting to be recorded. fortunately it doesn't see anything else without some type of cable of some sort. just with the color cables it just acts like a regular dvd player. the best thing to do is get a hold of a external vcr and run color cables to this dvd recorder and then another set of color cables to your tv and put it on your VIDEO channel. refer to page 34 where it says connections for an external source. it illustrates it will and read carefully. sources: I USED TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY;)

Magnavox dvd recorder & 4 head hi fi stereo vhs with digital tuner

How are you connect to the tv. Make sure on the back you have your color cables on the VIDEO OUT section and are going to the back of your tv. Now that just will work as a dvd now if you want to record you have to get that screwy antenna cable thats on your tv. YOu want to unscrew that one off your tv and put it in the dvd recorder under ANT IN the cable that was provided with you goes to ANT OUT back to your tv !!! if that cable is too short just "find another that's longer and will suit your situation. Keep in mind if you dont have the color connections it wont work and you will have to buy another unit its called a RF modulator and which converts the signal for you and works the same. Rf modulator runs at 5-20$. THATS ONLY IF YOU DONT HAVE THE COLOR CONNECTIONS ON YOUR TV. IF YOU DO HAVE THOSE CONNECTIONS, you need to get your original tv remote and look for a button on the remote that says input, tv/video (the name of the button varieties from tv companies but it has something to do with video) the reason why we are looking for this is because your dvd recorder needs to be put on this special channel to operate from there you will be able to change the channels

Dvd player

Are you using a DVD+RW disk? Unlike DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RW disks you cannot finalize DVD+RW disks on the Magnavox MWR10D6 DVD Recorder. Instead you have to make the disk compatable [Make Edits Compatible], this allows you to close the disk and play it on other DVD players.

go to: Setup ==> Edit Disk ==> Make Edits Compatible ==> Yes

Other than this nothing else comes to mind to troubleshoot this problem. Hope this helps.

Connecting the dvd player and the vcr to the tv

On the DVD player you hook the red/white and yellow cords from the DVD to one of the inputs on the back of the TV colored the same. Provided you have another RCA jack input on the tv you can connect this the same way. If not and you have a cable connection or satellite just run the coax into the input on the VCR and run a coax off the output on the VCR and run the other end into the TV. I hope this is of assistance to you.

DVD+RW playback problem(s)

same prob with the shows freezing up

with a DVD+/- RW disc the amout of time keeps dropping because with every recording process the disc loses a life you can burn those disc 200 times before they become useless so the disc might be beyond the life peroid or bad

my prob is with the DVD-/+R disc tho and i figured it out the disc was bad

for the grinding noise if its hi piched its normal thats the disc spinning up to read or write speed

if that not the case something is rubbing in there and that might explaine the writting errors

**DISCLAMER**
the disc manurfacture dose not take resposnablity for defective disc and any loss they have caused(if the data is lost)
